I got a radeon 4850 512mb It has 2x dvi and 1 x Svideo, I'm using a dvi to vga adaptor so vga into my samsung tv and the highest resolution i can get is 1360x768 I have latest drivers, on my 5670 i could get 1920x1080 through HDMI. Is there any way i can get 1920x1080 on this card?
I have to force the Nvidia control panel to output 1080 on my secondary monitor at work. Does the AMD software allow you to do this?
Yep, with a DVI cable, or if you are connecting it to a TV - DVI to HDMI Cable. Either buy this, and use a HDM cable; Or;
It says maximum maximum reported resolution is 1920x1080 but there is no way to put it higher than 1360x768
my tv cant take DVI so need the dvi to hdmi, thank you, will it be worth it do you think, as in for gaming, when not gaming i keep it at this res anyway, only when gaming i want 1920x1080 but since this is an older card which may have trouble in playing games at 1080 what do you think? This thing costs more than the card itself http://www.maplin.co.uk/dvi-to-hdmi-adaptor-97886 what about this will this work? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Premium-HDMI-Cable-Gold-Metre/dp/B000GDI6FC
Don't bother with Maplin, they can be ridiculously expensive at times as you can see. Just get one of these for 1/4 of the price.
Well at 1920x1080, everything is too small to read, see, the reccomended res is 1280x720 on screen resolution even though it can do 1920x1080 with hdmi on my other card so for internet i like to put it at 1366x768 so its easy to see, read everything and when gaming i like 1920x1080 looks miles better
Not without an expensive box of tricks in the middle no. Ignore any ads for VGA to HDMI cables, they won't work without a converter box. Edit: And as noizdaemon666 said, VGA to component will look terrible. Stick with digital connections like DVI and HDMI
Does you TV support 1080 first? As for TV not having DVI, the cable above is DVI output from the card and HDMI input on the TV, can get those from ebay for under £5
It does, maybe your TV doesn't support high resolutions through VGA though? Or maybe has it pegged as a generic TV/monitor and can't figure out max res so has gone for something safe.
yes ive done 1920x1080 before on it but that was with HDMI Okay so looks like need the DVI - HDMI But my 4850, is it good enough for gaming on 1920x1080 at current res it handles everything so far except that damn GTA 4
4850 ~= 5750 which is an ok little card. You're not going to be maxing any games at 1080p but it should run most at low/medium settings.
You obviously misread my post. You can get a adaptor which will plug into the DVI port on your GFX card, which will turn it into a HDMI output. Or the second option, was to buy a DVI to HDMI Cable. Which is the one you have linked from Amazon which will work.
before on the same tv on an older pc through VGA ive gotten higher resolutions, so maybe this is because of the DVI to VGA adaptor on screen resolution it comes up as SAMSUNG all caps just like that
