Sweet, I love the idea of putting your hard disk in an expansion slot :D

    Can't wait for more

Excellent:clap: New ideas. I would never have thought of unused PCI covers for HDD mounting. All my SFF cases have unused slots. Sweet idea and great work.

    thank you guys...

It's not my idea of putting the hdd in an expansion slot. I remeber that I've seen it somewhere else and "stored" it until it came alive again during this project.

Then I've spotted that my motherboard has a 24 pin connector and the morex-psu has only 20.:eyebrow:
I did'nt like the idea of using an adaptor. So I searched the net for the pinout and used a 4 pin P4 connector and "added" it to the motherboards connector. et voila... here it is

I hope that I'll get my cnc milled parts on wednesday or thursday to do the final assembly. Meanwhile I will cut
the wire harness that it'll not look like a mess.

Btw, does anybody know wher to geht 10cm short SATA cables? Horrible, all shops have 30cm and longer. :wallbash:

Firstly congrats on the great work so far, This metal work on this case is indeed fantastic.

In regards to the dust issue, have you considered making 2 big dust filters for the side? It would lessen the airflow impact and still prevent most of the dust coming in. Either way keep up the great work!

I love what you have done. Don't let dust bother you. Unless yuo have 5 cats and chainsmoke, it shouldn't be too bad.:D
The emergency fan should really have some way for the air to pass out the bottom. You could either add some spacers or cut out part of the fan shroud.
I like that you made your own 24 pin connector. I learn new stuff from BT every day!

Pfft, you just make the chainsmoking cats stay outside to stoke their nicotine addiction. ;P

Excellent mod so far, ichessblumen! The hard drive solution is very clever.

Thanks for the nice words mates. Didn't expect so much replies... So i'll "multiquote"..;)

thank you, I found a how2 on metku.net and a shop selling custom cables www.cpustuff.com . unfortunetaly at worlds end :)

That was a good idea...didn't know that they have custom cables and I gave them a call. But they do not sell ...normally. They gonna send me two of em :)

lol, I've made my mind up yet. I don't care the dust. You're right man. That's by far a minor problem if that's a problem at all.

And your idea of cutting out the fan shroud is a brillant one. I'll do so. Thank you. Like you, I learn every day new stuff not even from BT ...

Well, that's it for today. No news. Still waiting for the cnc-milled parts :brrr:

hoooray, the cnc milled pro parts came in today. Nice Package. As I opened the box this came up.
They did'nt wrapped it in silk paper or bubble foil....no on a cardboard with a foil...
So I was curious whether all fit nicely. I then started abit of drilling an threading to fit the front on the auxiliary front plate holder...yes. all fine :)

    took a picture...
bent the mesh so that it is plane with the top
    [IMG]

and put it all together for a mockup...

some last things has to be done for the weekend.
    - cutting and sanding acrylic window for the vfd-display
    - drilling and countersinking holes for the top
    - abit soldering and fighting with the wires ;)
    - fab a knob for the dvd flap

    happy....
