I clicked in and started to read the posts and thought I was in the wrong thread.:hehe:

The really big deal here is your words of encouragement and support, I hope over the
coming months (for I think it will take at least two more months, possibly substantially more)
I can keep improving and refining this project and thus justify your early enthusiasm.

Thank you all very much. :)

    Thanks HeXeN. :thumb:

    Thanks tominated. ;)

    Thank you Oreon. :)

Originally a slim slot loader was going to be mounted so as to line up perfectly with
the front of the shell and be accessible from the outside. But as the plans for the
shell have changed and the design I have in mind won't fit with a drive up front I decided
to have it on the inside and accessed by popping the shell (which I hope will be a very quick
    and easy procedure).

More recycling. As the drive will be mounted with foam backed adhesive tape, the drive
housing needs to cover the whole drive. Here the part is being cut from the first attempt
    at the mobo tray.

Now it will line up flush with the outer front panel of the chassis.

Now I had hoped to also make the support for the system drive today but just couldn't find
a diagram of a 2.5" drive on google (I do not yet have the system drive).
So off to do more googling.

I am at awe at your skill mate. Us aussies are good for something rather than drinking beer and watching the footy ey? LOL. You will win MOTM for sure. I am glad I voted for you.

Ha ha., Thanks very much b4oz, not into footy but I do like my beer. :hehe:

Tracked down a diagram of an SSD and the supports for that will be made from
two pieces of 25x25 angle but I won't cut or drill them till I get the drive.

The finished drive supports were fixed to the case, so that's basically it for the drive side.

Now it's time to make some feet for the chassis to sit on.

I had a reasonably good picture in my mind of what the feet would look
like but just couldn't get my head around how to bend the support that
the pads attach to. So a crude cardboard model was made up.

No this is not something my daughter threw together, but it gives me a rough
idea how it will look and how to do the bends.

The support will be made from 3mm plate and bent with the help of a mallet and
piece of wood. The feet will be made from this 50mm rod that was on sale when
I picked up the alu for back panel no2.

I've thought about whether I could make the pads myself, and if they are just discs
then I think it will be possible. But I'm thinking of something, maybe with a taper or
a step, I'm not sure yet but in this case it will have to be done by someone else
who has access to a lathe.

    Nice! Origami feet!

Sweet as always. I like the glamour shots of the completed trays and front!
Those will be some unique feet. Will you have to worry about the weight of the case deforming/bending it after a while, or is 3mm alu thick enough, even with the scored and bent areas?

Have you also been working on the shell, or is that still in design mode?

Cool idea for the feet, kinda like the top of a CM Cosmos.

Thanks, you could be right about the weight of the case. Although it is very light now, I expect the shell
to be quite heavy, so I'll make a support in 3mm alu and see how strong it turns out.
As for the shell, no I haven't started that though I have several ideas, when the time comes
    I'll just start making something.

Thanks, I'll have to check that case out.

Springy feet would be cool. You could add layers like leaf springs.
