Man those shots look awesome. I am gonna nominate you for Million-Dollar-PC cos even in it's current state it rivels a lot of mods on that site.

I just finished reading the thread and I am jealous at the talent you have scratch building. That setup is AWESOME. The pieces look like they were made on a CNC machine. I can't wait to see the finished product.

    Thanks brinkz0r, tomcatt, B4oz and Darthperil. :)

Various things from the real world have conspired to rob me of any spare time at all so
I'm not able to progress in a fluid way. If you'll bear with me, then the project can continue
in fits and starts until these problems are solved.

Being a total noob when it comes to wood carving/shaping, became very evident when I
realised that my choice of wood probably wasn't the most inspired. This stuff is hard! Try-
ing to find examples of people carving Jarrah on the web gave me zero hits. But I've started
now so until something screwy happens I'll continue.

Using a router the ends of this block are made smooth and square.

Then some cavities need to be made for the pads to fit into so that the flat inside of the side
panel can sit flush with the front and rear panels. To make the cavities a 50mm forstener
    bit is used.

Because I need to only bore partially into the wood, a piece of scrap needs to be clamped
to the workpiece so that a complete hole can be cut.

And this is where it became clear just how hard this stuff is. It took about 20mins to cut
the first hole and somewhat longer for the second as the tool began to get blunt almost
    immediately.

Then a bit of cleaning up.

This will get more attention later.

    And fits like so.

This is the shape that needs to be made on the lower part.

And a start is made by removing the bulk of the material with the router.

I ran out of time so will continue later. :thumb:

    WOW....Very nice woek indeed.
I would, however, love some mesh on the fan in the PSU. Or is it just me?

Wow.At first i was not very impressed that you were going to use wood also. But now i'm convinced that it is perfect.Anodized alu with this color of wood seems very industrial, very professional.Keep the pics flow.

You definetly picked the perfect species of wood for this project, even though it is a pain in the.....well you know, to work with. I believe the end result will be awesome. I hope the Real World set backs get better so you can continue the great work!!

This is a very neat build. The inner frame looks very futuristic and the wood is a nice touch. I wish I knew how to do metal work like that so i wouldnt have to take my side panel to be laser cut.

    Thanks all. :thumb::)

Although the wood does look a little bit different depending on the light, I don't know
why it's so different in every photo. But the second pic is about right, just a hint of
    magenta coming through. ;)

The look of the wood seated against the frame made me all drooly.
    This - will - look - in - credible.

    Thanks cheaps. :hehe:

Unfortunately, when complete, the only place you'll be able to see the two together
will be the back. But of course both wood and chassis will be visible when the case is open. ;)

    /PUTS ON PSYCHIC HAT

This will be too heavy to move often - I see a 2 wheel dolly or small forklift in your future.

    /TAKES OFF HAT

Beautiful wood and excellent craftsmanship as always.

    I watch

This is, without a doubt, one of the best mods I've ever seen. I don't know about the wood part, but the bare, metal construction looks absolutely amazing! Fantastic job!
