I agree with having fan controller, switches and LCD (maybe even CD drive) in a seperate enclosure to go on your desk. I think the toggle switches on the top in your last render look a little wierd. Nice decision on the window as well.

Yeah the "ears" don't look good lol. The more I think about it the more I like the separate enclosure idea. Incorporating the disk drive would also make the front look better. Hmmm.... Ideas....

+1. I too decided to do this as it just wasn't possible to integrate a DVD RW to my planned mod well.

    Thanks all!

Ok so here is a quick concept control box, ill get more renders posted as they finish. Let me know what you think!

    Edit:

Here is a rendering next to the case to get and idea of size. It is a little bigger than I would like but I might also try to fit a slim drive instead of a full 5 1/4 drive.

    YES!

EDIT: What you need now is a 250mm fan on the control box so the drive and switch circuitry get adequate cooling and so it matches the main case a little more.

Here is an updated version with a slim drive and an LCD screen. The slim drive allows the box to be 1/2" shorter and 1" shorter lengthwise. The DVD drive will be white, I had to make it a different color because it was hard to see.

And just for fun here is what it all would look like in the dark lol (with 1st control box version)

Awesome "Control Box" I like it...
It would be best to have sockets of some sort at the rear of the box for all cabling to be modular.. I dont know if thats possible..
Also is there a length limit for sata cable? That should be considered as well..

But the design and functionality is simply stunning..

Very nice. If possible add some small LED fans (250mm?) on the control box to give it the same feel as the case.

    PS: Dimensions on the box?

    edit:
    250mm.

Powder coated parts are here! I apologize for the crappy pictures and the green background (I am not a very good photographer lol), but here they are! Like I said the pictures do not do justice.
