Strathclyde I'd have thought, it's by far the best for computing and as weird as it seems, I've never actually met or heard of anyone who does Computing at Glasgow making me think it doesn't offer it. I know the met doesn't offer it either. I assume you're studying at Strathclyde? What year are you in? I don't actually study there but I can watch the computing lectures from my living room window Job Title:Graduate Building Surveying Student, about to do a post-grad in Acoustics and Noise Control in Edinburgh. Pay: Hopefully around £22k once I get into full time employment then up to £35k if I get chartered (takes 2 years of further training) Is it worth it: I'd say so, it's a pretty interesting career and I've enjoyed the course but if i go ahead with my post-grad I'd really like to be an Acoustic Consultant. I've had experience working in that field before and it seems pretty interesting with good opportunities to become self employed once you get a bit of experience under your belt.
Yeah, out of Glasgow and Strathclyde it's always kinda been Engineering/Computer science -> Strathclyde Other sciences / medicine -> Glasgow. I've just finished 3rd year of an MEng in a degree called Computer & Electronic Systems Engineering. It's basically a joint degree between CS and EEE. Because if this I'm in Computer Science lectures as well as Engineering lectures (and get twice the amount of free print credits - one set from each department I'm in) Where do you live? Albion Street I'm assuming?

Easy now! You'll find a few Glasgow Uni Comp Sci grads around... we do exist (bigger dept). And just to set the record straight, Glasgow ranks above Strathclyde for Comp Sci.... sorry! In order to balance this whole thing out, I do know plenty of very good Strathclyde Computing grads!
I read this and am a bit shocked to be honest, the national minimum wage for anyone over the age of 22 is £5.80, so I'd assume you must be under 22 then? But over 18? Because even the national minimum wage for someone over 18 is £4.83 and if your only getting £5.56 (even if under the age of 22!) for doing an Trainee Assistant Managers job that's only a piss poor 73 pence an hour more than the NMW for someone 18 or above. Hope it's worth it once your fully trained!
Jobs : National Training Coordinator/Corperate Events Manager for a nondepartmental public body Wage : £16,125 Worth it : Not really - i have been in this position now 19 months and none of the promised development and/or opportunities have arison, i was earning more when i was studying at university and working on contracts (project support officer - contracts in excess of £25k per annum - those days where nice) - but now i am leaving this hell hole for the coast in 2 weeks, for greener pastures and hopefully a job in London some time down the line! Also - Second income: Jobs : De Vere Hotel Group - The Village Leeds Wage : £5.80 an hour Worth it : not one single bit - i am a barman, i work maybe 10 - 15 hours a week, yet i am supopsed to complete the excellence programme and sit exams and do e-learning in my own time, the hardest minimum wage i have ever had to earn. so much so i dont think i am going in for my next shift or ever again as i really dont need the money THAT much.

job: ICT tutor Wage: approx £7500 Worth it? : yes and no, i was unemployed for nearly a year before i started here and that nearly killed me, so in that respect, yes it is. on the other hand. i studied 3 years of a degree in computer games design, i am now teaching expelled or should have been expelled student IT making posters in microsoft word and telling them repeatedly how to change font size for minimum wage. so in that respect no if another job came along i would leap at the opportunity, but there just arnt any going in my area

Police Officer £30k There are days when I couldn't think of anything better to do, then days where I wanna jump ship and move to another country.
Job: 1st Line IT Specialist (mostly helpdesk with server work as well) Wage: 46k A year + Benefits + 3 weeks vacation Worth It: depends on the day.
I suppose an update is necessary: Job: Summer student at the Paul Scherrer Institut in Switzerland. Wage: 2550CHF a month (until September) Worth it: Get to live in Switzerland for the summer, get to do some interesting stuff related to my degree, invaluable for a CV, great money for the hours. Pretty damn worth it!
Job: Technician in a local computer shop. Wage: Mid teens Is it worth it: Some of the time. Most of the time I enjoy my work and have minimal customer contact, which is nice. The rest of the time I either don't have enough to do, have too much to do by a certain deadline, or have to fathom out what is expected from some very cryptic instructions or fault descriptions, as they say, a little knowledge is dangerous. I'm waiting for a position as an on-site technician to open up within the company I'm working for so that, hopefully, I can get a change of scenery and some more cash.
Which shop is that? The only place I can think of in Wrexham that does that kind of thing is Wrexham Cameras?
I'd prefer not to say, but there are at least 4 dedicated local computer shops in Wrexham town center. In no order, Jones', Micro Plus, Arrow/Taurus, Mediafields.
It's been a while since I lived there, and computer shops weren't something I often had to visit. The one down from Yales is the only other I can remember. I was just curious as I know at least one guy doing a very similar job to yours in the area.
The guy I know worked at Wrexham Cameras (downright creepy place unless you like lots of photos of a 40 year old with considerable artificial enhancements). Yales being the bar with Central Station upstairs, not really that close to the bus station.
