Aha, so its just over a month until this is released!

Anyone getting this? I played Rome for a bit – but so in depth and I found the battles a bit slow. But I might jump on this as the trailers look awesome and I love the setting.

Its on Amazon for £26 – does anyone know if I’ll be able to unlock it on steam with the retail serial key? To be fair, at least its only £30 on Steam.

I'm very pumped about this. I found Empire and Napoleon a bit sterile and boring due to the style of battles, ie. men in lines shooting at each other. I loved Shogun and Medieval due to the more brutal and intensive fights. The best unit in the original Shogun was the Warrior Monks - they were fanatical who would fight to the death :D

Never played the original, but started at Rome and have played every one since. I really enjoyed Empire and Napoléon (my favourite of the series), and in fact have been playing them loads in anticipation. If the press is to be believed, it looks like they've taken all the criticism on board and may have produced something truly special, so I can't wait to get it.

As far as Steam is concerned, I believe that it is activated through Steam, regardless of what form it was purchased in, much the same as Empire and Napoléon were.

Yep! Missed that one. I've just had a look at some of the vids, does look good! I think I'll pick this one up though, the setting of Napoleon etc didn't really appeal to me.

I've never really gone for this sort of game, probably because I'm scared my PC wouldn't be able to run it. I tend to stick to things like Warcraft 3 or World in Conflict. However Shogun 2 looks pretty nice so I might give it a try after a while.

    I could always try Medieval 2, £10 on steam.:D

I was a bit disappointed when Shogun 2 was announced (I want Rome 2) as I don't really know anything about the setting and never played the first one but seeing the trailers now I cant wait.

I loaned my copy of Shogun Total War to a 'friend', together with Deus Ex years ago and never got them back... oh well.

That aside, I really enjoyed Rome Total War and am looking foward to reading the reviews on this one. Will there be a 2 player co-op mode against the AI?

The limited edition has a few bits of extra content.

Extra faction, units, that sort of stuff.

Actually I've just reinstalled Rome. I've remembered how slow everything happens. I'll defo be playing a demo/reading a review before getting this.
