That would be my new Tamron SP 70-300mm f4-5.6 Di VC USD, I'm quite enjoying it, the VC makes it so much nicer to handhold than my old sigma 70-300 macro dg. Bought it after trying out the Nikon and Tamron in a shop, preferred the VC and Manual focus on the Tamron to the Nikon's sightly quicker Autofocus,
High key shot taken over the weekend. I do have some better ones, but keeping this very family friendly (unless by request ) Ashley Hayman by JazzXP, on Flickr
Ola! Back after a while. Since it's warming up, here's a parting shot from winter: The cold road home by Sifter, on Flickr
I finally got some new stuff up on my website (and hence on the server so I can post here). It was about 15 degrees that night and holding my hand on that iron ball on the railing was COLD! Nice little derelict I found while kayaking in Marysville I always wondered how that tower got bent, now I know This is the former Air Force fuel pier in Mukilteo. I'm not thrilled with this shot, but it was the best I had of the pipes. I'm planning to go back there with my kayak one of these days and maybe even slip in through the hole in the fence.
Yes, I liked this one as well! That goat has such a great expression. Edit: Not often I find myself saying that....
This one I took last autumn at Martin Mere. I used a D300s with a Tamron 70-300mm f4-5.6 Di VC USD. Handheld @ f/9 ISO 800 1/1000, FL 260mm. Unfortunately the bird, the background...and the light kind of clash, but it couldn't be helped.
I really like this one. I've been having trouble doing anything worthwhile lately but here's one from me anyway. Before anyone asks, it's B&W because there were too many different-colored lights all over the place.
bought myself a hilite, so far it is so much easier to get a white background in a small flat like mine, than the white sheet I used before. The Hilite can go right against a wall, can be lit with one flashgun, and I can stand the subject 1 foot in front of the background, with the white sheet the subject was normally about 6 foot in front of the background and then I'd run out of room for the camera. Not photo of the day but a couple of photos from the last couple of days Turku Castle. I'd never been there before, it was surprisingly impressive. Turku Cathedral. Likewise, also the first time I've been there. Also the first time in a decade I was in a church - the last time was Saint Isaac's Cathedral in St. Petersburg. Both pretty impressive. And lastly a shot from the deck. I went on the trip with my dad, who wanted to see the Baltic Sea after a proper winter (when it's largely frozen).
Thanks! It IS very cliche'd shot of the place, but so be it, I still like it myself as well. And straightening is a good point, I didn't really do anything to it before uploading.
These don't show much in the way of photographic skill, but I still like the way the photos turned out: [/IMG] [/IMG]
