So the nub of the matter is this:

Due to circumstances beyond my control some 'yoghurt' got onto the fabric of a chair that I do not own but am in indefinite possession of (until the time comes when I am asked to return it).

The 'yoghurt' was identified to have left some markings on the fabric, even after it had been mopped up and later flushed with clean water. The mark left is such that anyone coming across the chair might well think to themselves, "Hey, that chair looks like someone's spilt some 'yoghurt' on it".

And so I ask, is it still within the bounds of possibility that this 'yoghurt' mark may be removed without permanent harm being done to the chair, or has the 'yoghurt' bleached the fabric somewhat irreversibly?

Should the answer be irreversibility, what then? Should I look to apply copious amounts of 'yoghurt' to the rest of the chair in pursuit of some uniform bleaching effect?

Do you own a pet vac or a similar wet hoover? Might be worth a shot. Other than that, either churn 'yoghurt' till your arms hurt or see if there are any fabric cleaning specialists in your area.

    Try the yellow pages.

    Hope this helps

PS - Tried vanish? Either the pink stuff in the bottle, or the act?

Just completely cover the rest of the chair with this 'yoghurt', no one'll know the difference, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it ;D

Might hurt after a while, but keep pumping. :D

Some Vanish foam spray cleaner and a stiff brush should hopefully get the 'yoghurt' out; put a towel down in future if you insist on spilling 'yoghurt' where you sit...

    I suspect there wasn't a she present. :p

Seriously, why would you... 'eat yoghurt' on a chair that is on loan from someone else. I mean, ew.

If it has bleached the fabric there is nothing you can do. Except lie about the cause. Pro tip: yoghurt does not have a bleaching action.

I vote a sticky for this thread! ;)

If it was actually Yoghurt, it will come out.

If it was what it really is, chances are it is stained (I know from experience and am not ashamed it say so).

This thread is very amusing, very amusing indeed.

    Just flip the cushion

    If you can't.....

flip the entire sofa just to see the confused look on there face as you pretend everything is normal.

The problem was that, rightly or wrongly, I'd grown quite accustomed to enjoying 'yoghurt' in that chair and, as many of you will acknowledge, we are creatures of habit.

I guess I'd gotten a little complacent and would just mitigate the risk of 'yoghurt' spillage with my free hand, ready to catch whatever 'yoghurt' came its way.

Unfortunately, on this occasion I had been looking forward to the 'yoghurt' all morning and when the time came I got a little over-excited, almost inevitably leading to a somewhat uncontrolled release of 'yoghurt' too fast and too voluminous for me to be able to catch it all.

I intend to have another go at cleaning the chair ASAP but I need to be discrete because the lady of the house likes me to share all of my 'yoghurt' with her. If she found out how wreckless I was being with my 'yoghurt' she may disappove.

The thread already seems pretty sticky from where I'm standing...

It really shouldn't bleach, so some decent Vanish type stuff should get it out.
