    Speaking of bats......

    The Ader Avion III.

Both bat-**** insane and bat like. Technically it did fly but it's was not sustained and certainly not controlled but it was airborne on its own lift and power.......for about fifty feet then landing in a heap of bits.

P.S. I know it's small and not overly impressive but is anyone else headed to Cosford tomorrow?

My memories of being in a hovercraft were the almost overpowering smell of rubber and aviation fuel combined with the jarring impacts of hitting every wavetop on the way across as the sea state was officially described in the terminal as "lumpy".

It didn't help that the cafe was selling "Hover Burgers" before departure which a lot of people were soon depositing in the sick bags from the seat in front. Our theory was that they were called Hover Burgers because they just hovered in your stomach and came out at the first bump which just added to the smell of rubber and jet fuel. They were bloody noisy as well.

Wrong continent for me. Is 2013 definitely her last display season?

I believe so, simply no way to build new engines for her. Last of the stock of spares are running out of miles.

2015 is the current target, assuming they manage to finance a wing modification to increase the airframe life on top of their usual winter servicing costs.

    Bloody shame that.

I wish Sunderland would get a display this year, Being it's 25th year and all.
So far the line up is a bit gash IMO.

    Oh well.

    Here's some nice shots.....

oooooh... Tornado! I love the Tornado

also (i know there was a pic of one already - but this one is special):

It's easier to see in the print I have, but this is Tiger squad lining up for their last flight in the F4 Phantoms, spelling out TIGERS (letters on their tail).

My brother actually saw the last F4 that the German JG 74 had take off on its last flight... so.very.jealous.

apparently they have got a sponsor for the wing mods so she`ll do 2013 and 2014 now - engine life becomes the issue - they have no more spares left.
