My home connection is pretty reasonable for a bit of copper on the Island!

What a load of crap. I live a few miles from Canterbury. Anyone got any advice on why it would be this slow. We even had an engineer round who 'fixed' the line when i was getting 0.50mbps.

This is just unacceptable still. I'm getting fibre when it's available here in a couple of months.

For some reason, it thinks I'm in Dublin. I'm about 150km south west of dublin. :eyebrow:
Cant wait to be back in uni, where the internet is at a usable speed.

Because ADSL is toss. You're going to be one of the poor sods who has a long copper run to their property, which kills speeds dead.

Nope. It's down to physics, which you can't overcome. Fibre is the way forward, which is why it needs to replace ADSL as soon as can be in my opinion.

^ That exactly... That or move closer to your telephone exchange...

Where about do you live? (not exactly, just the village / town etc - I'm in Ashford :thumb:)

You could ask your provider to install a thicker copper cable between your house and the green box in the street...unless that it what they did last time to "fix" it. But really you need fibre.

Well Fibre is available here in the next couple of months or so. I'll upgrade when it is; as it stands I can't even stream a low quality episode of something from Sky Go or BBC iplayer

I live in Herne Bay; it's a seaside town in kent, it's near canterbury. Ashford is actually pretty close to me.

I know it (relatively) well :) - other side of Canterbury to Ashford. Definitely get fibre - I was on similar speeds in Ashford until we got FTTC - I'm now on ~45meg down ~15meg up. I'd go as far to describe it as life changing.

This is pretty standard for me, even at peak times, we don't drop below these speeds, which for ADSL2+, I can't really complain about:

What I will complain about though is where I live, there's about 8 or 9 exchanges within a 15 mile radius that are currently not on the plans for upgrade to Infinity.

It's a mainly rural area of spread villages just south of Lincoln and there's even a few 'not spots' that get less than 1Mbit but we're too small a community to be a decent return of investment it seems.

Seriously seem to be in a connectivity blackspot, no 2G, no 3G, no fibre :waah: Anyone would think I lived in some remote part of Scotland, but no I'm actually 5 minutes away from the M5 and about 30 mins away from Bristol. Pretty poor when its 2013.

Just upgraded from 15/1 to 25/3. I'm synced at 34/7 (VDSL2 8b) but I have IPTV on the link as well. I could probably do 70/15 on 17a but the Telco's line qualification tool is a bit screwed in my area.
