Precisely the performance i'm paying for. Unlimited bandwidth, 20 quid a month.

There's a new ISP that offers 50/25 for less than what i pay right now but i don't trust them yet. I'll see how they work under load before i'd switch.

A typical result from our BT connection at this time, it's up and down like a chip butty; 8Mb broadband, less than 1km from the exchange. Don't know what we pay, but it's not cheap.

£18 including line rental + free evening and weekend calls from talktalk. it's over 1Mb/s faster then i was getting with BT for some strange reason and half the price too!

    I'm unconvinced by speedtest.net tbh.

At work, I've just tested using the "recommended" server at 8Mb down 4Mb up.
I then retested with a different one, 45Mb down 10Mb up

I've had anomalies at home too, fetching a result of ~10Mbit down but then downloading something immediately afterwards at ~2.5MB/sec.

I'm on an ADSL service, my connection is crap... I really don't need to publicize that to the world :hehe:

i dont think its perfect but it certainly gives you something to go off. for example i just upgraded to 20m from 8 and that gives me a real time difference of about 3-4m. which is ok as i only paid £2.00 more for the privilege!

Virgin 20mb service, so I can't fault that.

you must be practically on the doorstep of the exchange. virgin service around leeds is very poor indeed

yeah thats what i'd heard tbh, why i avoided Virgin. i'd rather have a reliable 10m line than a flakey 20m one!

The exchange dosn't come into play so much with fibre optic.
Can't fault virgin media 20mb service either ..
Oh wait the crummy upload speeds suck.
If you are a leacher though it's a godsend.

Not at home to post test results right now.

Tesco Internet :sigh: If anyone is able to convince my mum to move to a better provider I'd be very grateful...

And I'm not sure what's up with my supposed distance from Manchester.

My, frankly **** connection at work, through Plusnet. 8MB maxdsl my arse. I wish we'd have stuck with the fixed 2MB service. I think it's about £25-odd a month.

Meh, found out that my connection speed isn't too bad, its the latency, how do I do a network latency test then... and how do I fix it :S
