What are you doing in Germany?

Bought way too much, but I guess the most important things are:

    • Frank Miller - Big Damn Sin City
    • last year's Arsenal yellow shirt
    • this year's Arsenal red/white shirt with number 9 and Podolski on the back for the girlfriend
    • books, books, books, ...
    • brilliant one week trip to Corfu with the girlfriend
    • not a purchase but I got a local hifi store to order a McIntosh MHA-100 for me so I can listen to it and decide whether or not to spend 5K on a headphone amplifier. Nuts? Yes, and proud of it. :p

Honeymoon/Family Holiday with the (now official) wife. That means Frankfurt area for a few days, Munich area for a few more, then Aachen area for a few more before returning home.

Frankfurt, hm? Head over to Offenbach & go to Fleischeslust for amazing steaks which will set you back a lot less than meat of the same quality would in Frankfurt. Site seems to be German-only but I'm sure your wife will assist happily. :thumb:

Ordered this up for collection on Wed/Thur this week:

Test rode the Status 1 and fell in love with how it felt & just how quick everything came flooding back to me (havn't riden DH properly for ~ 5 years).

Went for the II over the I as the £500 price difference was easily justified.

Also picked up a new rear disc rotor and fork oil for my current Kona Howler (which become my wife's bike).

Started to ride to and from work and can already feel an improvement in how I feel.

Going to North Wales in September so should give the Status a good work out (starting slow of course).

    Very very cool.

I think the Status is one of the most aggressive looking bikes I've ever seen. My friend has one and loves it.

So does this mean you're going to join the Bit-tech Strava club?

One of these for the misses to start cycling, made a few upgrades mind which rounded it up to £800 :(.

    1ton bag of top soil
    1ton bag of shingle
New edging spade and fork, big ass spade for top soil, rake, sieve thing & other borring garden crap (I'm not big on gardening but like having the garden lol)
    Nespresso coffee machine,
Big bunch of flowers for me Mum (browny points)

Thanks. :) I was suprised at just how light and "chuckable" the Status felt despite it being 4-5 lbs heavier than my Howler. This is probably more down to how compact the Howler is in comparison though (Short wheelbase 4x design). If anything by the way it rode it felt like my old Orange 222. Whilst it isn't a true single pivot it does have that single pivot "feel" (to me at least).

The Strava Club sounds in interesting. I doubt I will be riding long distance on the Status though as it isn't really designed for climbs.... 200mm of travel with no lockout (could be fun to try though!).

Wow - those bike upgrades are 'non traditional' ;)

The top soil and shingle will certainly give you some speed downhill though!

(I know they aren't the upgrades, before someone points that out...)

Funnily enough, living in one of the world's best meat-countries (not officially, I think, but I know I can get GREAT meat here - better than most places in Europe - at prices that would make most people envious - how's 159 NAD - approx. 12 GBP per kilo of finest fillet of grass-fed free range beef?), I am looking forward most to the potatoes in Germany... it's one of the things we don't get in high quality here.

That is just so cliché it's not even funny. :D

    But those prices sound... :jawdrop:
A kilo of good fillet over here is more like 40+ GBP. And don't even think about getting something like dry aged fillet for less than 70!

I know it's cliche'd to bits. I love potatoes though.

As for the meat: We get even better pricing on game in hunting season. 70NAD (so 5 pounds or so) a kilo of Oryx or Springbok then. :D
