Which is why I feel one point isn't enough. 5 points for a fastest lap, now that would be interesting.
That's a good point actually, when they did this in F1's early days the winner got 8 points and only the top 5 got points at all, the extra point for fastest lap made a big difference. Considering that they already have done for years just for bragging rights, yes, absolutely. If one of the of drivers can't win they'll try and get something out of it, the Merc and Ferrari have so much pace over everyone else they can just flip a switch and be out of reach of the other cars even if they put new tyres on. I still think F1 should go to Moto GP concession style rules if they really want to shake things up. Give teams without wins more engines, more fuel and more tyres, then see what happens.
So no banzai back-marker laps then. Might make for interesting mixed strategies for the midfield, but not up front I imagine.
Ok so it's not F1. But did anyone else watch the Moto GP? First (Dovi) to fifth (Rossi) just six tenths apart at the finish line. Aaaannd breathe.
I did! Spoiler and what a race, the top eight were within 3 seconds of each other for pretty much 95% of the race and and there was very little field spread. I'm [vr46]very appy[\vr46] to see the Suzuki up there, Rins was a little unlucky to not finish on the podium but glad Cal was. This year is gonna be very close championship by the look of it. The Honda is quick, so is Ducati but I really want to see Yamaha up there as well. Just need to Lorenzo to get over his injuries and get up to speed on the HRC.[\SPOILER]
Saw the highlights, very nice riding going on there. Dovi's back end looked rather twitchy under power though. That Ducati looks very quick in a straight line. Saw the FE race, Bird punted Lotterer's rear causing a puncture meaning he won, rightly in my opinion he got a five second penalty. Still, means Mortara won which is nice. F1 Mayhem this weekend, anyone doing a fantasy league, or a tally for how many millions in cars will get borked?
Needs to be bigger than that, c'mon play the game. Spoiler: Spolier, race result. Oh and the result of the race isn't a certainty yet, Dovi may yet be stripped of his win.
It's very unlikely that Ducati will be excluded, the other teams protested before the race and the stewards allowed Ducati to race with their fairings, the fairing also have to be submitted to the FIM for approval before they can be raced. The teams are now appealing the pre-race ruling, but Ducati have also said that if they get disqualified after getting express approval from the stewards they will be going straight to CAS over it. I expect it will go like F1 does with these things, it will either be banned from the end of the season or the rules will be 'clarified' and they'll have to take them off, but prior results will stand.
