Same in NZ, we paid more for less speed but then they're at the end of the planet unlike Germany.

 

I looked it up because it was mentioned but, Muskylink, or any other satellite BB, has never been on the radar.

 

Think yourself lucky. When I lived in Dorset we had 4mb and it was £60 a month. And it constantly went down because the wire was about 500ft long to the road and would constantly snap in tree branches because they ran it through four trees ffs.

 

Ah, duff BB oneupmanship.

I remember being very pleased with the move up to dual ISDN at 128kbps then over a decade later taking a drop from 17.5Mbps ADSL2 to 345kbps after moving to this address, before FTTC.

 

I remember when all of this were fields and the internet didn't exist, happy days.

Background:- Ecotricity installed the first ever chargers at motorway services a decade ago (some are still there, and often broken). Most avoid them now.

That is exciting news. It also reminds me that our EV is as old as the Ecotricity chargers...

 

What is it and how's the battery going?

 

At that age, it's most likely an early 24kW Nissan Leaf, like Robert Llewellyn's.

 

It is. It's a 2011 LEAF with the original 24kW battery. We have probably somewhere between 3/4 and 2/3 of the capacity in the batteries, but it does us brilliantly still. It's been a superb car. Coupled with a renewable-only supplier, it's quite a good way to potter about.

 

Keep an eye on Llewellyn's youtube channel, Fully Charged Show. He's spoken of an upcoming battery upgrade on his Leaf.

Just switched to Bulb as per recommendation on uswitch and will be saying over £200 a year.

 

Just got off the phone from eBay; a very nice Irish chap informed me that because some of the ongoing mess is due to eBay's staff making mistakes and services not working, they're going to cover it and I'll be getting a refund without having to communicate with this obtuse, scamming ******* of a seller any more.

Can't believe I'm going to say this, but fantastic customer service from eBay.

I'm right behind you; my neckbeard is getting pretty terrifying and unkempt. I reckon if I stood outside a school right now I'd be arrested on general principle. (edit - this is meant in jest, beard-lovers. I'm neckbeard about 80% of the year.)

Can't do much about the hair, though. My white-fro is continuing to expand. Good news is I'm friends with a barber, so as soon as restrictions lift...

 

I've had trimmers for near twenty years, my wife does my hair with them. Wasn't easy to find a big enough basin...

 

For some reason all I can think of now is walnut whips.

Yup, trimmer here too - all of it gets buzzed off. As soon as mother nature started telling me I shouldn't have long hair anymore, a good few years back now, I went the polar opposite.

 

I am eagerly awaiting further news on this - it would be so good!
