The Plexi isn't lit up, because it's polished, so there's no stray of the light. However you can see the LED lit up in this picture... Very nice work alltogether, allthough I prefer my cases to be just square and silent boxes usually
I can understand your daughter this plexy piece is really impressive. How your trick will work for the mobo.
Awesome update oldnewb, love the case legs, feet & jule, awesome idea & design brought into reality & hope the mobo is fine, this is looking sweet from every angle .
The fit on the power supply mount alone is drool-worthy. If the munchkin likes the plexiglas jewel, you gotta make her one.
Really amazing work mate. One thing i had been wondering since i before Cygnus X1 was finished, was why you never placed your cases next to a manufactured one for comparison (lian li perhaps)? Today i found my answer while looking at the latest pics. Can you imagine if one of those "comparison" photos made it onto the rest of the internet? Bloodbath i tell you. Headline reads "5 top case manufacturers bankrupted within hours of....." lol kidding. But seriously, have you ever thought about offering your services to build custom cases for people? You'd make a lot of money!
You can? Seriously, I can't. If you think that reddish thing is the LED, I think you're wrong. It looks like something in the background. But I could be mistaken... what colour is the LED supposed to be?
It's probably not the LED since the surface underneath the "jewel" would be somewhat lit, as opposed to the shadow which can be seen. I vote background object, probably a barbecue
Haha, well I have to leave something for the final photo's. Thanks, but the LED isn't connected to anything yet. The mobo trick worked well to straighten the heatsink. Lets hope it also still works electrically. Thanks. I do have a spare block, I may just do that. I would be happy to make someone a case, as long as they are prepared to wait from eight to eighteen months, pay for the materials and of course the labour. An unlikely proposition considering the bill would run to a ridiculous amount of money. Thanks, but read on. It's the playground equipment in the background. Thanks. Thanks mate. It's a white LED. Thanks waynio. I hope it works too. Thank you. Thanks mate. Thanks mate. Thanks a lot guys, and welcome to bit-tech ulfar. I was going to make another update today but I got side tracked. I assembled most of the parts just to have a look, and although I love the gunmetal colour on the PSU, it just didn't work with the rest of the components. So I'll have to pull it out and re-spray it. But some good news is that putting a piece of plex under the CPU socket worked and the heatsink sits level now.
Impressive work as always, I like how you have kept the parts of the main structure down to a minimum but still so advanced.. Love it
thanks. one question tho, did you drill a hole for the LED in the "jewel" or will it simply shine upon the jewel? (one could always file the LED-"tip" so that the top becomes flat and then stick it to the "jewel")
I guess "Clarke Kent" has finally come out and revealed his true identity. The price of fame. Keep it coming. Incredible attention to detail.
Thanks mate. Acronym would look terrific all polished up as well, and it wouldn't be too dificult to do. There is a small dome shape drilled into the plex to fit the LED. Thank you. Haha, well it all happened when I tried to open an account on youtube with 'oldnewby', and found the name already used. So I thought may as well use my own name where I can. I never really liked 'oldnewby' anyway, I just don't feel 'old', and I'm not a noob anymore.
