Some of the simple timex ones are great. My wife has been wearing a very simple looking one with the backlight for ages, hardly ever gets taken off.

Yeah I've had it for a while and the backlight is pretty good. Although it does stop sometimes which is a bit annoying - luckily though it just takes a sturdy whack to get it working again :) Might well get a nice Skagen soon enough, lovely clean-looking watches they are.

For some reason I have six. Oh wait, got it - I like watches, and variety! :D

Nice watch box Jopers - a known brand? That black strapped, illuminated face thing in the front looks intresting! Care to elaborate on "black strap, face lights up"? :p

I'm going to take a punt and say it's an ipod.

I'm more interested in the rest of them, care you give an inventory?

It's a 'Lionite Mele' box, got it off Amazon, nothing special!

+rep, the "black strap, lights up" indeed an iPod nano in a strap.

They're nothing to special, inventory from top left to bottom Right:

    Rotary Chrono
    Ben Sherman
Tissot Tradition (New to the collection - amazing watch)
    Swatch Core Rebel
    Diesel Digital
    Generic Quartz
    Seiko 5 auto ('vintage')
Ceramic Auto (like a Rolex Daytona, but cheaper)
    Timex Auto
    Pulsar Military G10

And a couple of spare straps when i fancy a change. I love watches wish i could afford some fancy ones!

My Waltam is finally done! God I love my friend's dad, he's managed to source an original impulse jewel and balance wheel, on top of that, he's fully restored the entire thing for me! Going to pick it up tomorrow. Perfect timing as well, I just got my new suit and waistcoat, now I just need to source a chain.

I've had 2 of those nano watch straps (Lunatik, right?) the plastic just cracked after around a fortnight of use swapped it in the apple store for the silver aluminium version which is much better.

I used to wear watches as when I was younger but eventually I either forgot to put it on, or when the battery ran out never got it changed. It's probably been over 10/15 years since I wore a watch.

My girlfriend got me the following watch for Christmas, I had wanted it for my birthday earlier in the year but didn't get it.

I really like the simplicity of it, and don't like the look of watches with loads of fancy dials etc. Also it is very thin and light which is good as I didn't want a watch that would weigh my arm down :p Also as I have got quite thin wrists and the smaller clock face fits nicely.

I like that it has a date on it as well but hasn't gone overboard with day/month etc. and doesn't look cluttered. Although it took me a few days to configure it to change when it got to midnight but eventually I was up late enough :)

    Overall very happy with it.

My two biggest gripes with Skagen - the horrifically cheap crystal and the craptastic band/strap design.

    Never again.

They were the only ones I ended up looking at due to their styling and the price range.

What don't you like about the strap design? I really like it on mine.

The straps aren't replaceable, which means once the piss-poor leather (pleather?) is trashed, that's the end of the watch. The crystals are laughably thin and made of some freakish material that sits between mineral glass and acrylic, which means they either shatter or collapse with ridiculous ease.

They're really attractive watches, no question there. It's why I bought two. But they are just so poorly thought out that I'm through for good.

I agree the straps aren't brilliant in terms of the quality of the fastening and such, but mine is holing up very strong so I've no gripes so far. My strap however is titanium, not leather.

Anyway, my Waltham is finally finished and I'll have it back in a couple of days. I've been to see it at my friend's house and it looks astounding now that all the silver and internals have been cleaned. He's also managed to find original parts to repair it with, so I'm very happy about that! Having a lot of trouble finding a good silver chain for it though, I really want to be wearing it!

Here's my small collection. Couldn't tell you model names though.

The first is my Movado, got it as a confirmation gift 8 years ago. I've worn it maybe a dozen times, too fancy to wear everyday and I don't want to scratch it up / ruin it.

Next up is a Swiss Army I got for Christmas last year, not my favourite but its comfy and seems solid enough. I prefer the 3rd watch which I also got last Christmas (Tommy Hilfigure) but the face on it is far too big and impractical to wear on a daily basis.

I used to really like wearing watches but not so much anymore, just use my phone for time. Mostly wear watches when I dress up or during tests when having a watch is convenient as you can't have a phone out.
