    Windtunnel!

Yet another day, and lots of plans and ideas keep emerging :p

    The windtunnel

As alot of you know, harddrives produce ALOT of heat when they are stacked up together, and tbh... having around 40 disks in a single box without any way of getting it out efficient will end in disaster and lotsa defective disks.

Building a windtunnel should prevent most of this, a windtunnel is basically a piece of whatever that controlls the way of airflow, in my case it will be buildt with 5mm plexi (god forbid) and will be housing 3x 80mm fans at low RPM, these fans will pull cold air outside the case, and the larger 250mm fans in the back will push hot air out

    On to the consepts!

Man thats awesome!!! You may consider adding fans inside the case 2 to help the airflow!

the only heat that will be generated inside the middle case in addition to the disks will be the motherboard, wich again will be watercooled =)

but fully agree, might be a good idea to place a couple of fans in the bottom of the middle case so the PSU's have enough fresh air to work with

AMD might be joining up on the project! Will have a meeting with one of their PR managers the upcoming week, so hardware list might change drastically =)

Havent used AMD setup since the athlon xp series on socket 940, so might be interesting to see how this one turns out :p

With the size of the exhaust fans, I don't think you'll need the inlet fans.

I love the look of the case, but wont 40 hdd's in the middle make the case's centre of gravity quite high? I'd hate to see this beast fall over... That said, I think looks wise, the symmetry of having the hdd's in the middle is the best. Please make sure the base is super sturdy.
For me, this ridiculous OTT sorta scratch-built case is what modding is all about. Why do we do it? Because we can...

Hi guys! New words from OCZ, WE have finally decided how to power up this rig ! and its going to be AWESOME ^^

The newly released PCP&C Silencer 910w, tripple up! will soon be in place, all with custom cut cables to tidy stuff up =)

And when it comes to the inlet fans, might drop them and just make the windtunnel with some grills in the end to let cold air in, but time will show, its lots of disks to cool off

And hell yea... "cuz we can" ^^
