Hey all i was just wondering what is a normal fps for bf2 for my computer. I have a AMD 64 3500+ - 1 gig corsair xms pc 3200 - BFG 6800 GT OC - Msi neo2 platinum motherboard . I run settings on high with a res of 1024x768. I have the newest omega drivers. I just reformated and i only get about 15-50 fps but 50 is kinda rare. I also talked to my friends about what fps they get and they ran the same settings but with a lower end computer and they get constantly higher fps than me with a ati 9800 and i also hear of people getting more fps than me with the same video card. I just wanted to find out whats wrong or if thats normal which i dont think it is.

Anyone got BF2 to run at 1280 x 1024 yet? Altering .con files seems to cause a crash when the game loads...

Stick this at the end of your shortcut icon path...

    BF2.exe +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050

Just remeber to change the res as needed ;)

    fixed
    My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\Default
change the resolution to 800x600 or something like that in video.com. should do the trick. if not, then edit in 0001.con or whatever the file is called.

You can't login because EA's account server has been hacked, apparently...
It was said last night that it would be down for 24 hours, I haven't tried it yet though.

Thanks for the res advice, looks like i'll have to fiddle around a bit more then ;)
Why EA couldn't support this popular resolution I don't know... Hope they add it in the 1.03 patch. Probably not though, knowing them.

Many people have been having problems just getting 1.02 Hotfix to install. Here's two problems and two solutions.

    Problem
Battlefield 2 Patch 1.02 (Hotfix) "Directory not found"

    Solution

    1) Start the patch v1.02 installer.

    2)
The installer will unzip itself into the your users temp directory.
You now need to locate where. The path to the temp directory usally is...

    "windowsdrive":\Document and Settings\"username"\Local Settings\Temp\

If you can't see the "Local Settings" directory at all, then you need to enable "view hidden files and folders" in then Explorer menu "Tools\Folder options"

    Sort the files and directories in date order. Check in the lates ones. The directory should have a name that looks like something like this {E85DFD3A-540C-474F-BEC8-E1B6395DACFF}

It should contain the following files.

    default.pal
    FontData.ini
    isrt.dll
    license.rtf
    patch.exe
    PATCH.RTD
    PATCH.RTP
    patchw32.dll
    setup.inx
    StringTable-0009-English.ips
    _IsRes.dll

    3) Copy all the above files into your bf2 directory.

    4) Execute patch.exe, the patch should now work.

    Problem
Battlefield 2 Patch 1.02 (Hotfix) failure.

    Solution

I ran into this one a bit looking around. Apparently the problem for many people was a lack of free hard drive space. Freeing up about 2+ gigs seemed to be the fix.

    Good Luck

Only have 2 resolutions available in BF2!!!

I don't know why, but I just installed BF2 (it came with my eVGA 7800) and everygame runs amazing, but when I try to play battlefield 2 in the highest resolution I realized that I only have 800 x 600 and 1024 x 768. I don't know what is wrong because I use to have the demo and I had all the resolutions available but I didn't have the hardware... and know that I have my new video card... I can't choose a higher resolution.... any hints please??? :D

    you could go here

    C:\Documents and Settings\Keir\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0002

    and change your video.con file.

or you could change the target on the sortcut.

    Code:
    "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1280 +szy 1024

    weird behaviour

my g/f bought me this game (which was nice), i installed it , updated it , and played it , and it run ok around the 30fps mark sometimes dropping, with my spec (in sig). i then looked on the box and it says recommended 1024 ram so i went to hunt for more memory in my spare room , i cmae across a spare 512 (2700) but theres somthing not quite right since i put it in , it runs a lot better like 40fps but i get a 3-7 second pause every 20-30 seconds and as u wil all know whith this game , 7 seconds pause means only one thing ..........dead
