can you fade CCFLs?

i would think they'd have to be an array of LEDs.

 

You can, though its probably not good for them. I have a 3.5" drive bay which can fade CCFL's on and off. They don't fade in brightness, they actually fade from the ends, with more of the tube being lit up as it fades in.

Thanks very much guys. The case is at powder coating right now so there isn't much to do. Actually I won't be showing the powder coated case until its release date in late March or April. Until then, I have some wood working to do and one last update on the aluminum.

Here is what i did (and almost totally forgot about) before I dropped the case off at the powder coaters.

I needed to find an elegant way to get the tubing through the mesh:


So I started by doing this:


That looked kind of weird so I decided to make a backer for it:


I cut this on my scroll saw out of .09 inch aluminum:


And J-B Welded to the mesh:


This should be hot once its powder coated.

In other news, i've been working on a bunch of random things. I've been finishing up the wood, I have some more metal work to do, and i've been painting fans but for the most part, i've been taking a little break. Not to worry though, things should heat up next week, stay tuned.

 

thats awesome dude! i just got one of their memory coolers a couple weeks ago and it looks incredibly trick. i will be polishing the face and putting LED's behind it. im eager to see what you do with it, maybe a veneer on the front?

@itsjustacompaq: I'm not totally sure but I do have a lot of veneers and that might be in order we shall see
