I sold my Elise a the weekend, and got a new car as a toy.

TVR Chimaera 430 Big Valve. =) 4.3 litre V8, 1060kgs, and about sixty thousand cows worth of leather inside.. heh heh.

Very different to the Elise, but still very good. Much heavier to drive (no P/S or any aids at all). It feels like a big muscle car, rather than a light weight sports car like the Lotus.

I change my cars all the time - I have an attention span of about six minutes. Elise was great, but just fancied something else for a bit. I'll get an Exige somewhen to replace it ;)

    :eyebrow:

You apparently know nothing of TVR's
For example, they don't run on petrol, they run on testosterone

As someone that has been behind the wheel of a Chimaera 500 and a Tuscan S (and a Speed12, but that doesnt count because I wasn't allowed to put it in gear :/ ), TVRs are truly scary cars

or until it gets wrapped around a tree

I've heard an interesting statistic somewhere, something daft like 90% of TVR insurance write-offs involve no other cars :D

It goes sideways far far too easily. Pulls hard from 1200rpm right upto the (lowish) 6000rpm limiter.
In the wet it spins its wheels in 4th gear if you dare push hard on the loud pedal.
Oh, single figure MPG when pressing on, too.

As for breakdowns - I think they have more niggly faults than actual brakedowns - currently it kangaroos a bit if you're pootling at about 1500rpm, which can be annoying.

TVRs are scary cars because they develop so many faults, especially with the electrics. My boss had one and it was back and forth to TVR loads of times. The worst fault he had was that he couldn't turn the engine off...

Granted, this was a few years ago, maybe they've ironed out the bugs now?

No, TVR pretty much closed so now its down to independant garages to fix stuff, who generally do a better job :)

The only fault I personally experienced was with a faulty speedo, which when travelling at low speeds, bounced around all over the place and when travelling above 30 or so mph, just registered as 30

"Honestly officer, I was only doing 30"

Hmm I liked the Elise, but having a TVR is pretty sweet :)

Only bad experience I've had with a TVR (apart from stories), is on absolute pillock I knew who had one who thought it would be funny to show off in one and overtake on a blind bend, killing an elderly lady :(

Still, I am sure you're not one of them idiots, so go damnwell enjoy that sexy-ass car :D

I'm still not sure how Blackpool of all places used to churn out such awesome cars.
