Anyway, I've seen some working-on pics, the best part of this mod have to come, he show us less than 1/3 of his work!

I know I'm insane to do the snowflakes, but the look of this strange "grill" drive me crazy!
Anyway, I've found more free time to mod (aka no sleep last night)
The motherboard tray is a work-in-progress, I want to share with you the steps that I've done !



It's the time to do some holes to lock the pci/pci-e boards

Now I have to cover the holes on the top and in the bottom, to do so I've used two scrap pieces of stainless steel, now it's the time to do more welding...







The rear side ::



Finished work, a little polish and all is ok!



Now I can put something inside the case, to see if my measure was correct (I really hope so) and to do some more cut :







After some measure, it's cutting time!





A little bit of powder (it's correct? I don't remember) of stainless steel :

The motherboard tray is tall like the case, bent at 90 degrees at the two side to be easily put in place (in top and in bottom)

As giganten and RigoR asked me, here are the dremel bits that I'm using :



Normal bits, too expensive, imho, but they do the work
Probably tonight more modding, I have an idea to try, but first I need to plan wll the next stage...
Too many things to do, but zero free time, so... no sleep

Ok. The PCB will still be red though.. do you plan on making a cover for the GFX to hide that red? Perhaps you should make it a feature.. put some (red) light on it and make it pop? Then again.. maybe not. *shrugs*

About those bits. I've used those to, and they sure work well... however I learned the hard way that they produce a **** load of tiny ultra sharp shavings that get everywhere... if you don't vacuum them away at once. <=)

 

Beautiful metal work here... some of the best i have seen on the forum with basic tools.

Wow. If there was such a thing as a standing ovation on forums, you'd be getting one. I really am loving the look of the PSU mount plate. It goes with the theme flawlessly. Can't wait to see more

The more I look, the more I notice

You should have plenty of space for routing cables behind that tray as well. It's a shame more companies don't make cases like that from factory...but then again, that'd take the fun out of it for us right? Once again, very nice work.

Just 3 hours of sleep last night, but this morning I was full of ideas to use in this case!
Tonight a little but eyecandy update, and I'm having a good time planning how to hide the cables...
I suppose to use a method that I never seen before, MrWizard, but only the time will say to me if I was right or not...
The free space in this case is not enormous, keep in mind the watrerblock, the rad, the res, the pump... The space will be just right to fit my needs...

Ok, now it's time to go to do the real work, to gain some money to spend in this project

lookin good there. i have never worked with stainless steel, but how much harder is it to work with/cut then aluminum?
