now after i read the help file from this Board/thread i do exactly what he say. After all i click on Test Display and on send ...
but he show me nothing !!!1:waah:  .

i try on com 2 it the same i try to reset it no success

Sounds like the same problem that i did...
    Go to :
    Configure/Test
    Definition file: (sould be) NoritakeA4
    Then go to:
    LCDC configureation (1/2)
    Display file: (sould be) NoritakeA4-example

If for some reason the files don't show up there in the list..
then you have extracted the files in the wrong dir in LCDC folder... (as i did :D )

If this doesn't help.. try asking Cheese on icq.. he was a great help for me!! Three cheers for :: cheese ::   :hip:

Think this qualifies for the quickest VFD toasting of all time :waah:

When hh tried to use the bit-tech (nk204) definition file the display was working and did what it should. It no longer hard resets/responds to stimulus so must be dead :(

    Sorry bud,

    Rob.

    Return to Itron (UK) Ltd

    Hi hentaihero,

If you think your VFD is blown completely, you need to get it back to me at Itron (UK) Ltd, as soon as you can.
Our test and repair technician, Jonathan will take a look at it and fix it for you if he can! :)

Please mail me direct at p.dakin@noritake-itron.com or via the "profile - contact funks", with your name and the address we shiped the display to, and I'll tell you how and where to send it.

Lets hope its something simple like we found on Oh_No’s display!

    Noritake Customer Support

I am glad that you have been taken care of, Oh_No...

I cannot believe how customer oriented Noritake is.

They really seem to go the extra mile at every turn.

    Thanks Noritake!

yeah it's above and beyond what i would expect most companies to do. and as such is very very cool.

I hope Noritake can introduce some other cool products in packs in the future for us.. :)

dunno what though, but i reckon something cool.

almost decided on ordering it, i just want to know a couple of other things if pos.

    1. Im gonna buy the kit with the cables, everything etc, will I have to do any soldering etc, because im not so smart with a soldering iron
    2. Can it be mounted to a standard drive bay plate? Is this easy?, or any guide to do it, as im sure i could do this np.

if i can get these two answered, i'll order it for sure :D

    1. No, no soldering anywhere.

For those who don't keep a close eye on LCDC's website, LCDC just gained two new plugins; one for Winamp3 and one for HL gamestats. Expect to see screens for these in the first post of this thread soonish (some kind people are working on them!).

    Cheers,

    Rob.

I just noticed today that Farnells are selling Noritake Displays as of today. It was plastered all over their front page.

I think I am going to order myself a nice big VFD soon from Noritake and a copy of LCDC.

Yep we discussed this back here - http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12398&perpage=20&pagenumber=44

If you want to use one of the small dot graphic from farnell with LCDC you need to make a TTL-RS232 convertor liek this lil one I made,

The ic costs less than £1 so there's nothing to fear in making it...

    Got my VFD!

I received my VFD this week: plugged it in and setup according to Kane's guide.

Wow! You guys are certainly correct. It is quite impressive.

Now I guess I need to get into the hideous "programming graphics with a character-based utility" learning curve.

I cant seem to even get transitions to work at this point... :wallbash:

Great looking install ACE...I hope I can get mine to look as nice. What did you use to attach the standoffs to the back of the plate?

    Thanks!

    Brian

BTW Rob, that has to be the ugliest circuit board ever!

    Re: Got my VFD!

This is normal since only the flip transition works with the noritake display. The transitions :: cheese :: uses are actually events he made w/ excel and i havent a clue how he did them. They are @ the bottom of the event list, to use them u need on b4 screen use dsp commands ---> the actual transition code
