    scoop turned out great
could have mounted the dvd drive in the scoop.
have it eject through the front opening.
or can still chop the face off the radio unit lose one dial on each side, and mount it to a blanking plate, then attach the blanking plate to the front of the dvd drive and wire up one of the buttons to work as open/close.

The scoop looks outstanding... although I can't help but think you should have went larger with the fan. :D

Oh, Man. That radio is such a nostalgia bomb! It would be a shame if you couldn't mount it.
Do you plan to black out the area under the scoop?

No, but I will put in a LED fan under it, so it glows at night. Any thoughts on the color of light?

There's still nothing inside, so that is still on the table. Although, I don't think much will be visible with that heatsink and motherboard in there

True, but a little bit of grey case will show. A quick spray of matt black will make it look more clean & tidy. I had a similar first reaction to the hood scoop, as in maybe that bit of orange under the scoop should have some black on it.

I'd go for either yellow or orange or red or white with the case lighting. I'd try and guess which color your bro in law would want?

Tis a shame about the radio being too wide, but that temp gauge is do-able and would look nice :naughty: Car cases are cool  So what's the deal? Did you crash your bro in-law's car or something?

You really should paint the inside of the case. It's almost just an automatic thing to do these days. Just use the flat black or something, anything is better than the gray.

That thing is really looking sweet. I am a gear head so I like to see people incorporate car themes and pull it off nicely.

    I'll be watching.

I guess I'll do the flat black inside. I don't want red lighting, but yellow or white sounds good because it'll be brighter. I'm gonna cut out the bottom front so the white headlights shine through too

The bezel is next. I want to mount the radio in the dual 3.5 inch bay

    Looking like this

But first I have to trim it to fit the bay

And that's where I got my first Cuda related injury

    And it's in!

And then with the face plate. I still have to touch up the sides

I still have to paint the bottom and inside with the flat black

And cut out the front where the head lights go

And get to the hood pins

A suggestion for the temp guage, would be getting its own bezel and mounting it on top of the case like an oil or fuel guage on a muscle car:

That was suggested earlier, but I have a scoop and I'm adding hood pins, so I'm afraid it'll be out of place. I've looked online and I couldn't find any examples of that

Mod is looking great. I was at Harbor Freight this weekend, and saw some neat chrome rings. Check them out here. Wish I had something that could use them. Good luck with the muscle build!

That trimmed radio fills the 3.5 bay nicely, and headlights would be very cool
Yellow or amber would probably look a bit more retro/original, and white would probably look a bit more modern. Either one will be very good. Don't forget to light up the radio!

Headlights did actually cross my mind aswell, and the size you've marked out is good :thumb:

I'll be getting to those soon, but first I sprayed the inside till I ran out of paint. As you can see, I need to touch it up a bit more

    Very nice
And btw, i'm guessing you're going to make some sort of wooden or plastic panel to fill the gap around the radio display/buttons area, but I just had an idea for the temp gauge...
how about setting the temp gauge needle in the middle and lighting it's face, and then mounting it behind one of the grills, somewhere under the dvd area? If you've got more gauges then 2 or more would look even better i think!

I will be adding a trim to the radio and I doubt I could pull off your idea on the guage

Next I cut out the headlights. Then I trace the holes on to the frame underneath

(I also decided to add a 2nd DVD drive)

    Now that is looking great!

The black really helped on the inside.

One other thing I would think about is to paint the top of the case black directly under the scoop. It might be just the flash on the camera but if you can see the orange in normal light I would maybe do the black. That way it helps look like the scoop is really legit and not just slapped on the top.

This thing is really turning out cool. Makes me think I should have done one based on my Chevelle. But I don't want to be a copycat. I'll just drool on yours.
