They actually work very well at preventing your tubing from "kinking"..
They are made by both Alphacool and Innovatek

it is nearly a shame the motherboard is 'hidden' inside a case, even if it has a window... it should be on display on top of an acrylic setup, so everything is in full view...
a lot of copper i must say. i think i fell in love with it.

    Thanks Guys..
I am not concerned with the anti-kink springs being stainless steel. In fact they "go" well with the chrome pump cover. The bolts holding the Stinger waterblocks together are also stainless. Contrast, everything can't be copper. It would get boring.. Speaking of Stinger.. Bad news. Fred has had a "bad fall" and broken his leg.. He will be out of action for about (6) weeks..
    Get well soon Fred.. :thumb:
    Great news for me..
The good folks at Sidewinder Computers are helping me upgrade the cooling capacity of the project..
(I spoke about my concern as well as my need to stay with a single 120mm radiator a few posts back)..
    More soon, I promise..

Fred said he is "caught-up" on custom order's.. BUT anyone ordering a block at this point in time will be in for a sizable wait..
    IMHO worth the wait..:thumb:

I guess there only three choices:

    i7- 920 (2.66ghz) $290US
    i7- 940 (2.93ghz) $560US
    i7-extreme edition (3.20ghz) $1000US
My guess would be the 2.93ghz processor.. The extreme edition would be nice, but not sure I will have the cash for that (perhaps)..
Also trying to figure out how much memory (triple channel) to go with..
    Also the video card..
    Any feed-back is greatly appreciated..

CPU: Go with an i7 920. Only difference between that and the 940 is a higher multiplier. Besides, even a 920 can OC to 4Ghz - and you're on water. :thumb:

RAM: 6GB (3x2GB) is the norm, and the memory bottleneck of the Core 2 era has finally been removed, so DDR3-1600, for example, actually does give tangible benefits over DDR3-1333. In keeping with the theme, you'll want something with black heatspreaders. My own recommendation would be this set of Mushkin, but Corsair Dominators and G-Skill PIs are also available.

GPU: The interesting thing about the Core i7 platform is that the sheer power of the CPU only shines through when paired with (as of now) extremely high-end GPU setups. If you do feel like going with ATI, black PCBs are available on all 4870 X2s and select 4870s - although I would personally suggest going with two GTX 285s. Danger Den and copper EK blocks are, again, most in keeping with the theme.

    Recycling Chrome:

Here is what I am looking at..
I sold off a good deal of the "bits/pieces" that where the ill-faded BlackRain project. That included the PC Power and Cooling Turbo1000 power supply.. BUT when I sold the unit, I did not include the chrome-plated cover:
I had an idea for a future project
    [IMG]
    this project.
The (W) of a power supply is the same as that of the 5.25" bay-area..
It should make a great backing-plate for that area:
    like so.

    needs Dremel-work, but

do you see what I see..

nice find, usually a find like that is after you make a custom piece for the job which takes several days of blood a tears, with a few restarts because item gets damaged.

shame its not copper, but it reflects the copper rather well so could trick the eye rather well!
