I spent a lot of today sorting out my stripped threads. For the back panel and side panels, because I'm using thumb screws, Im limited to a few types of thread. I started off with the lian li M3 ones, but they stripped their threads even just during test fitting, because the threads are so close together, and cos I'm using aluminium, which is very soft.

So I switched to 6-32, which is the standard thumbscrew size, and I thought I would be safe...little did I realise the full extent of aluminium's fail. They were stripped already the other day, again, just a test fit...

So I scoured the internet, looking for solutions to my stripped threads...
I had tried epoxy with the M3 threads, but the aluminium was too thin for the epoxy to get a proper hold, and just came off...
I considered rivnuts and similar things designed especially for fixing threads, but none of them are really good for really small threads like M3 and 6-32...
So eventually, I decided that I needed to change up a size on screws. again. I spent ages looking for places that made thumbscrews in sizes other than the ones Id already used (and werent horrendously expensive), and eventually came across some M5 ones plastic ones. I was pretty desperate by then and so I bought some, even though they only sold in batches of 50.

So I spent all day drillin' and tappin' all those hole...

I should have some case building up pretty soon

 

Shouldn't there be an update soon? It's been three weeks..

 

i hope so i only just saw this but i remeber seeing it way back at the start when i lurked so clean i love it!

 

Awesome build, I absolutely love the attention to detail because it makes or breaks any project's overall impact. I've got to say you've pretty well nailed it so far, I can't wait to see more.
