Yep, I just had no experience with the thumb stud, I was trying to push it out instead of up and out. Works fine :thumb:

I might get a Speedsafe (assisted opening) one anyway, because my friend just sent me a bunch of links that make it clear that they are legal in California.

Nice, my assisted opening trident is gorgeous, and really fast. Completely (even more) illegal to use it here though

I didn't make it I paid for them to be made in a few hours. Set and head phones cost 200 euros, plus that gives me the service if it doesn't fit or get lost stolen I get replacements.

    1x "Helping Hands" magnifier & gripping-type-thing
    1x Electric de-soldering pump
    2m of 1.5mm heatshrink tubing
    1x Prototype board
20x 10cm jump leads (for above board)
    1x 25-way plastic D-Sub hood
    1x Male 25-way D-Sub plug
    1x Female 25-way D-Sub socket
1x Small project box (which will probably be replaced eventually)
    2x 2.5mm In-line DC power plugs
1x Red panel mounted RCA socket
1x White panel mounted RCA socket
    2x 2.5mm panel-mounted DC power sockets
1x 1/4" panel mounted socket (for headphones)
    1x 10k Logarithmic Pot
    Some assorted capacitors & resistors

These don't count as purchases, as I've requested samples direct from the manufacturer (Texas Instruments), but I'm going to list 'em anyway:

    5x OPA2132 Op-Amp
    5x TPA6030A4 Class-AB Amplifier
    5x TPA2008D2 Class-D Amplifier

I must be Maplin's favourite customer at the moment, and all because I'm too lazy to order online and wait for things. Having one of their stores 5 minutes round the corner is both a blessing and a curse.

+1 on the Spyderco. I was at first like you described, a little skeptical on the need for an EDC knife, but decided that I'd try a cheap knife just to get introduced. After trying many folders in person before, I'd decided the little nubs just weren't for me and chose to make an inexpensive "water testing" purchase of a Byrd Meadowlark. Oh my. If this is the cheap off brand and already performs so well I can only imagine what something like the Delica must be like! The hole makes opening amazingly easy, as you say it can be done ambidextrously with ease.

And on a Meadowlark specific note, after handling exclusively liner locks in my life, I don't think I could ever go back now that I've used a back locking knife. Feels so much safer.

    Oh aye, looks nice.

I'm looking to upsize my Super Boomer L - It's nice enough, but there's sweet FA room in there once you've got some basic laptop accessories involved. That looks a hell of a lot roomier.

My Crumpler Sheep Scarer has served me well for over three years. It keeps my 12" Ferrari 1000 notebook nice and safe on a daily basis, and will hopefully fit my new 15" MBP pretty well too :)

Yeah, it takes my laptop in its sleeve, the charger, my MX revolution and its charger and a big ass leaf of A4 with plenty of room left.

FYI, I could pick those in two minutes each, and I'm not an experienced locksmith, just a "talented amateur" ;) Code locks are a much better option for security :thumb:

Yeah, he'll be safe. Besides, code locks could get tough to open when drunk. At least keys are just a matter of fumbling away in order until one fits!

The Gaming All Rounder from August. Though with a 4870 from eBay instead of the 460, 3 gentle typhoons for the case and a Titan Fenrir for cooling. Should keep my brother occupied for a while after his birthday :p
