edit [RTT]: pics are down will try our best to get them back up asap for the people coming accross from [H]. cheers! edit [RTT]2: all should be working now EDIT:2[pflumingo] here is the movie.. Anyone else wanna host, be my guest, but this is on a proper server. http://mail.chartermi.net/~mdpflum/Powerwindow.wmv Ok... So I got a little tired of removing my bezel to use my floppy, and even though this is barely ever used, I figured it would be the ultimate floppy stealth, And I was thinking of this well before Zap's insane idea's thread... First things first, I have a 5" lcd in my front bezel of my lian li...and I had the floppy set back to allow for the LCD to be there, and the lcd was double sided stickie'd to the bezel, it worked nicely. Not as nice as this though... With everything working and the lcd "up" Just flip a power window type switch(dpdt center off toggle mounted under the chassis, my wheels make it clear nicely...) and it "OPENS" without a flash, or if you can't see the 3 1/2 drive.. WITH FLASH How the hell did you do that you might ask, well I used the motor and gearing from an old 2x cdrom drive, modified it HEAVILY, mounted it below the floppy, mechanized it, and voila.. No bezel pics... and how does the LCD look? a little closer on that... What do you think??? (Might do a guide if people would like)
I'd love to see this guided. I have a smiilar plan on a new case and would love to see how you pulled it off. I alos have about 3 4x cdrom drives taht are just collecting dust....
Do the switches at the top flip out too? My goal is still build one like the in dash car LCD screens where they slide out and then flip up. Mounting a nice big LCD in one cd bay effectivly.
That is awsome! Very clean Wasn't in my insaine ideas thread I dont think, just a lot of other motorized stuff. Is your fan bus motorized?
Yes, Stealth when closed, Motorized open... Used a motor from a broken Electric pencil sharpener to drive a screw drive, Very small efective linear type drive now...VERY strong.(I almost lost a finger closing it once.) It is also the power and source selector for the LCD (Left top and bottom switches, Top selects input, bottom turns it on or off.) Guides on that when I get the bugs worked out. should be soon though.. If I get the time between trying to mod everything in sight. Here is a picture of the workings a little bit...
VERY looking forward to the guides on the motorized stuff....always wanted to do it but had no clue where to start Very nice mate
Let's see it in action. Or at least tell us how the motor is able to move the screen up and down like that. EDIT: Oooh I get it now. The CD rom motor turns a gear wheel which grabs a set of teeth along the side of the LCD. Very nice. BTW where did you get that LCD?
Yes, The blue thing on the right is the Noritake 800VFD off ebay, same as everyone else is talking about, And yes, Zotty's program works NICELY on it. can't wait for more from that, Working on a little control app for it myself, but it's slow going, I can only get mine to clear the display and display an exclaimation point so far, but hey, it's talking to it. As far as the guide, It's coming, and the straightness when it's down, Yes, it's a tiny bit cockeyed, but not enough for me to worry about it, and if I make the brackets any tighter, it doesn't slide right. red x's??? Well, to be truthful, my image server is right under my desk, running through a cable modem, not even supposed to work at all, so I am just happy that it works almost all the time, My Upservice is kinda slow though, only 128... and until I get the linux box back up, I am stuck serving with Microsoft IIS... i.e. Buggy. but what do you want for free huh?
probably my connection here at work then. **** proxy that we have to use is very picky. I'll take a look when I'm back home
Try with the numbers, They change sometimes, but give this linky a try... (I know my site doesn't work normally from Military bases, but I was unaware of any other trouble spots...) http://66.227.209.189:6780/images/mods Might just work a little better...
Nope, it's the portnumber that is too much for the proxy here at work (he only accepts 80 - rather picky). I'll have to wait till I get home Oh well, I suppose it's a reason to work at work
