Horny cow, those are fantastic!

 

A little late, but an update!

First, I made the biggest mistake of my life; Since it's been sitting in my appartment and I smoke, all the holes were yellow from nicotine... I decided to clean them!

30 minutes into the process:



Decided that more drastic meassures would be the idea, as I remember how much Cyprio hated doing the same; Cillit Bang and a shower!



Then it was clean as a whistle!

Since Cheaps was bugging me about keeping the hdd-rack in there, I had to do something about it:

Painted flat black:



Made a couple of aluminum inserts in the clips:



And a little bling:



And... This is where I made a life-changing decission! I had to cut it! There really was no room for a PSU in there, and since I've burned out about 5 PSU's having them at the bottom in the original place, with not enough cooling, it was time!

I needed about 25mm extra room for a standard PSU:




Made a little tray to set the PSU on:





A quick mockup to see... I'm gonna cut holes in the aluminum plate with the white foil on it, for atx and PCI-E cables:





Tomorrow is Saturday, so I'll get to the workshop and get some more done! It's getting there, and the end is nigh! (I hope! )

Actually I do enjoy your builds, both from the standpoint of some very unique
work and also that you keep moving to satisfy my urgent need for regular progress.

I was actually gonna get a head start on putting everything together today, but I hit a snag before breaking everything down... I havn't got the faintest idea of how to get temperature readouts on this system!
My first idea was to make 2 blocks with for the sensors and put them in the loops, but that was when the lines were going under the bottom plate... Now they will stay above for ease of disassembly!

The big problem is that It's my only real rig, so leaving it out of service for days on, is not an option! I gotta get my daily Medal Of Honor fix!

Guess I'll be using the day thinking about that!

It really is the little things...

Was ready to assemble the watertower, and all was going great. Until I thought I was missing an O-ring.
I wasn't, but I figured out that SOMEONE either didn't follow the drawings when building the first reservoir, or forgot to change them!
This means that in one, the O-rings have grooves in the center part.
In the other, they are in the top and bottom.

This looks like crap (see for yourself)



and must be changed tomorrow somehow... Think I'll just pull 3mm off each end of the center, and do the grooves in top+bottom of second res.. Darn...

 

awww that's a real shame about the res Angel hope it wont mess anything else up along to line.

PS. your a brave man tackling nicotine stains! even as a smoker it makes my stomach curl lol

 

Editor22 <- Oh well M8. Nothing that an hour with a lathe can't fix.
And yeah... The only downside to smoking are the nicotinestains...

 

There's a better solution. Make 4 reservoirs.

A little late but...



What we G5 modders have dreaded and tried to avoid. The Dawn of the PSU in the basement.

 

Ah, yes, it could, but I just thought you were going to drill a M4 hole, use a countersunk bolt and hide the nut on the other side (by sinking it into the wood).

 

Nutman <- Ah well, that wasn't the idea. And since it's not possible to do it now, it's not gonna happen!
