I use theese bits for the outlines And the big bits from this set to do bigger areas with you can get them at any store that sells Dremel stuff. I use the dremel at the lowest possible rpm when i do my etching.
Thank you! I had picked up a 70 piece rotary bit set (mostly disks, but there were about 20 bits in it!) What you have pointed and displayed, I have! Just wanted to be sure! Thank you for the great explaination!
Tech-Daddy here are a few links to some guide for etching, one by is done by me: http://www.moddershq.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=42 http://www.moddershq.net/guides.asp?guideid=9 I used those same #105 and 106 bits to do my etches as well.
Hello again i just wanted to share a picture with yall ive been working on the front doors for my case and this is what they will look like (only one finished yet) Theese doors will cover the cdrom and fancontrollers
Here is my left nut and my right arm... now fork over some of the talent! That looks awesome! I can't wait to see more... Are you gonna uv paint the door and then side light with uv diodes where the door meets flush with the front?? just an Idea... -------------------Outer edge case _____[]______edge of case front adjacent to optical door -------------------- etched door (here be dragons) the [] is the uv diode siting flush with case and the front cover just closes next to it, allowing the light to dump into the faceplate... sorry... bad drawing skillz here... But, I hope that you get the idea.
I actually had something like that in mind i most sertailny will light the edges of the doors in some way but i dont know exactly how yet. I have an old lazerled uv lying around so i might use that.
UPDATE TIME!! ive been working on a drivecage some doors and a fan controller the last few days and here are the result of my sweat First i saw that there was way to much space between the top of the case and the psu so i decided to add 5 3,5 slots for a grand total of 18!!! and this is what it looks like. Then i had a go at my two fancontrollers i had one 6 channel and one 4 channel but i felt that it wouldnt look right with storebought controllers so i made a plexi box to house them. this box will also hide the drivers for my UV ccd and alot of other cables that doesnt need to be visible. Heres some pics of the fanbus in place. Ive finished the doors that will cover the front. the etched dragon is very difficult to get a good picture of because i couldnt use the flash when i did the plexi just lit up like the sun so theese will have to do they give a hint on what it will look like when its done. I will also add more black plexi to the front to complete the look but that will be in a later update. Heres some pics of the doors held in place with som tape (havent fixed the hinges yet) thats all for now ill be back with more in the weeks to come ive got a lot of plexi tubes to bend
nice, used the old side for doors? you didnt silverpaint the door etching, right? i thoguht the old one was great, and you tear it down and make this :ing chassi. good going!!
Actually i did put some silverpaint in the etchings first then painted the whole lot black. And yes its the old Sunbeam side that has become doors
