As I Posted in the purchase thread, I've finally purchased a house at 25.
It's a 1 minute walk from my aunts which is where all the family do events.
It's also a 5 minute drive from my cousins.
Plenty of room to finally work from home and do my hobbies.
It's such a weird feeling of the stress of getting this done before I got ****ed even more by interest rates just going.
It's something I've been aiming for and working towards since I was in secondary school.
Thanks to all of you for keeping me here when we ran bit-tech and leading to now.

Applied to a job today, rewarded myself with a Pasty and some skittles, because my brain works like a dog's apparently.

No doubt this will go to ruining when they politely tell me to f**k off. But getting the application in is the first, emotionally devastating hurdle jumped.

Feels good to have properly redundant storage online. Now I just need to start migrating stuff over to it and get cloud backup sorted...

    EDIT:

*slaps pile of HDDs*: This baby can fit so many porn videos in it

    Not that many VR ones.

    I guess.
    I mean I assume.

    What?

    :worried:

They're not actually that bad, about 15GB for ~30 minutes in quite high res - you'd fit quite a lot of VR porn on 9TB of storage.

Come on, don't be coy - if you have a VR headset then you've at least been curious about VR porn, even if only once. It's OK, there's nothing wrong with that, you're allowed to admit it

I found a game for VR. A naughty one. I can't remember what it was called. Hollodexxx? something like that. Any way, there's this bit where you have to spank this bird. And I couldn't figure it out, so I went on for about an hour before I collapsed in a heap.

Not sure if this belongs here or in the opposite thread, but this:-

EDIT - Adding this just in case the above also vanishes:-

    https://www.independent.co.uk/tech/twitter-down-not-working-elon-musk-b2291878.html

I wonder if one of those fired engineers ran a "Tower of Babel" script to delete all user "following" lists on the way out?

EDIT #2 - The "For You" algorithm-driven tab that no-one uses is working fine, so my suspicion about the engineers may well be correct.

EDIT #3 - Normal disservice has been resumed... for now!

As of 5 minutes ago, I do not own a car.

Collection service has taken possession of my old car, now waiting for sign-off from finance company so I can collect its replacement on Saturday

EDIT - Sign-off received. Just waiting for the collection company driver now. Then bus to new dealership Saturday morning. :D

EDIT #2 - What kind of STUPID bus company doesn't run a specific route on weekends!

I still use it, just about. I never used Twitter a lot and, as time goes on under Musky ownership and, more changes are made, I'm using it less and less.

Had my year-end review recently at work. Basically only positive feedback, the only negative was that I was unlucky with health last year and if there was anything the company could do to help with that. Since that was down to pure luck (or lack thereof), I declined but we all agreed that I'll let them know if stress becomes a factor. We then proceeded to talk about the company strategy and how I could develop in my role, with my bosses saying they want me to move into a slightly different role, more focused on project management of complex client projects because they strongly believe in my skills in that area.

I was about to ask about money, but one of my bosses just started that topic himself by saying "we're really happy with your work and about having you, full bonus for last year of course. Oh, and we want to give you a raise of about 6% because you deserve it".. one day later the other boss (who was also in the meeting) tells me "btw, well spoke after the review and we think you should get more money", "yeah, you said that in the meeting already", "no, no... More more, it's 8.7% more now".

Never happened to me before, quite chuffed with that, tbh.

My mrs has just been looking at life insurance policies for me as I need to get sorted out with something more than I have.
I've checked under her pillow and hidden most of the sharp silverware.

With all the worries in the world, I'm in a really good place after a bit of a strange year. It's almost the anniversary of me deciding to not work for a massive 4r5ehat any more and working for the biggest of them all (me). Sure, I'm still not making enough money to cover the shortfall but thanks to my wife and her 23yr career at the same company, she has been keeping things ticking over while I do a couple of nights a week at a bar, the extra work on various productions and getting the odd commission from the SOHs boss ( https://www.instagram.com/p/CpPJrbqIV51/ ) - who'd have thought my inner pyro would be doing this at nearly 50!? Apparently, I've just had word that she wants to buy other pieces for me to do and then promote them in her fashion showroom to big spending clientele (£1400 for a pair of trousers is a pee in the ocean to these folks!)

But what makes my life most awesome is the kids! Youngest has always been a creative and I don't see any issues with her moving forward apart from worrying about her growing up, going out, wearing all sorts of **** that I don't approve of etc - she's nearly 12!
My son has ADHD and has finally got his autism review which will open up a bunch of help to us which is amazing but the penny has finally dropped for him - up until now, he's wanted to be a Youtuber and basically plays games all the time. However, he's been told he is in the top 3 in his year group for maths and his year ten options for continued learning have opened up - he has been invited to join triple science, computer science and DiT! He is made up and has started to do an hour of research/ revision every day so that he gets a decent grade and wants to go to Cambridge (I have no idea how I'm going to afford that)!

The kid has hyper focus times (usually just before I go to bed) and usually is so passionate about the strangest things - and I love him dearly for it! I'm still wondering how it'll be in the future due to his... shall we say "lack of social awareness"? But my wife and I are buzzing with this recent turn of events! Now I just need to stop procrastinating around all the bloody website admin and just get on with it (ad-words, tags, indexing etc).

This is the only forum I lurk in - I really do appreciate the group and so happy it still exists after the live site went down so thanks to all that makes this place what it is! When I can afford to help towards the upkeep, I will... until then, boring admin or make something new at the workshop? Hmmmmmmmm.......

Oh.... and I used a Dremel for this one... It's not computer related but you guys were the reason I bought one in the first place... https://www.instagram.com/p/CpDAVuqjVe9/

    Ian
