I'm all out of voting might now, and I'd rather not have to resort to cheating in order to win a legitimate contest like that.

Actually; if enough of us F5 it, we could crash the server and prevent any further votes from being added?

Or we can create a simple script that send request to the server in loop and run it from a whole lot of machine :dremel:

Votes went up by four in several seconds, so it looks like we'll stay ahead for the moment.

I don't really agree that DDOS attacking the site is the best of ideas, anyway.

yeah, to risky and that would maybe just extend the deadline. I'm just can't stand people winning because they have more relative that can vote for them, and not because they came up with the best idea. I wish I could do more for Robo.

    EDIT: He's rising continuously :waah:

Seems to get a vote every two minutes, so if it ends at midnight GMT (I don't think it does, sadly.) he might still be behind. Which would be awesome.

The Space touch design of the competitor, it's not a very good design. It would cause wrist strain and consume more power, but what advantage does it offer? Only that it looks sleek. That is why Robo must win at all costs.

Also unfeasable, would ruin any digital device left too close to it for too long, and would be galatically expensive for such a device, it'd also be hilariously easy to vandalize, as people would just steal the control system out of the centre of it.

Whereas Robo's device is sleek, simplistic, and can be achieved with modern Technology. (Admittedly, might be physically thicker, due to basically being a Wireless HDMI connection, but still an awesome design that could be built.) I want one more than I want to see the girlfriend over the weekend.

EDIT: 40 votes seperate them as of this moment. I'm really thinking faked or copied Email accounts now. This is ridiculously annoying.

M-m-MULTI-EDIT: And now 44 ahead. Nice going, Bit-tech!

I really do think the other guy is faking votes. I've half a mind to contact Connexion and alert them to the gmail (.) and (+) tricks so that they can filter out the duplicate emails. It would probably result in a few votes being taken from Robo, but would utterly wreck the spacetouch guy. After all there are more than enough of us who voted by the rules and have legitimately promoted Robo's design. I still can't find a single link promoting the space touch design, but several links from various sites promoting Robo's tablet.

Why do I feel like Roboducks bitch.:miffed:

Look I support this forum but at the same time I don't want to f**k someone who deserves to win, if robo is asking for help on every forum then hes cheating.

I don't think he is. Everyone is free to make their own choice, if you don't think Robos design should win don't vote for it.

The problem is, that to a lot of people the Space Touch looks cool and they vote based on that alone. The idea of the competition was to come up with a good, functional design. The Space Touch is not really practical, it would never make it past an "easy on the eye" concept design.

Robos design on the other hand, was designed to be practical, functional and useful etc. for the target audience. The target audience are techies, CAD users, 3d modellers etc. I see nothing wrong with going to tech forums or CAD forums and asking them for a vote, because the will see past the flashy design and be able to decide which one would actually make their lives easier.

I think you are missing my point. I am fully supporting Roboduck, what I am pointing out is that he is doing the reasonable thing and pointing tons of people to the Connexion site to vote on the contest (along with tons of traffic being driven by bit-tech members re-sharing the links). It's an ADVERTISING promotion for the company. They get tons of exposure by contestants sharing links to the voting page to try to promote their idea. That is what the company wants, it is perfectly legit and fair.

What I am pointing out is: That while Roboduck is doing all he can to legitimately spread the word, someone else is faking votes to promote the SpaceTouch concept. I can not find any promotional links to promote the SpaceTouch mouse at all. This is cheating in many regards because it is not generating the advertising that Connexion is looking for, and it is fraudulent voting.

    Voted.
    712 Vs. 763 right now... :/
Really hope Robo wins, because that SpaceTouch thing is more gimmick than mouse.
Plus it doesn't look nearly as sleek as Robo's design.

EDIT: I've just mailed to some of my friends to see if they couldn't add some more votes. Waiting for them to come in! :)

If 3DConnexion pulls something lame and gives it to the Space Touch even though Robo had the lead at the "Official" end of the contest, us bit-techers' will just have to band together and email 3dConnexion our displeasure. (Not a DDoS or something like that, send real emails to them venting our spleen.)

I agree with the rest of the sentiment, the space touch is in no way a practical device. The magnetic power and complexity of stabilization system required would be ungodly. If you are just slightly misaligned from center on a magnetic levatator like that it will immediately shoot out in another direction. Even if you were finally able to provide enough power to hold the thing up it would ruin the whole point as it would be near impossible to maneuver. You could use an active magnetic control system on it, but then you would open a whole new can of worms.

Sorry I've been missing, I was driving up north to see the future wife.

Thank you guys so much for all of your support! It is dissapointing that I'm no longer in the lead and that the contest is still running? I have sent an email to 3dconnexion asking what's going on. I really appreciate all your support!
