John_T - This isn't the whole Dream PC article, all you're seeing here is a sneak peak of one of the Dream PCs in a video - clearly not something we could publish in a paper magazine.

Re the PDF appearing on Scan's website, this is something Scan did without our approval and is completely unacceptable. Because of this we've asked them to remove it from their website ASAP.

    Hi Lizard,

Fair enough if Scan acted without your authority - you can hardly control or be held responsible for that.

It just really annoyed me when I saw it, (actually just after my first post in this topic, though I didn't post then as my language may not have been as polite) - because apart from the, pretty substantial, 'sneak peaks' being released online, releasing entire articles before the mags general sale was beginning to feel like us paying customers were being held in contempt - with the free readers being put first. I hope you can understand that.

And Vadim, mate, please don't tell me to 'be more considerate to other members'. For a start, your argument is self-contradictory: It's OK for some readers to have known since Saturday but not others? And it's my fault Scan put the full article out, clear as day, on their website?

I didn't just name the winner out of spite, I pointed to the FULL REVIEW - which is exactly what people will read in the magazine. It's not like telling someone the football score - it's showing them the entire match.

I may not be a subscriber, and that may be no-ones fault here, but I haven't missed an issue for years and I feel just as 'invested' as any other regular reader or subscriber.

Look, if you guys at bit-tech want me to edit out my mentioning of Scan I will, but given the time the article has been in pride of place on their website, the amount of bit-tech & CPC readers who will visit their site, (especially given that they've owned CPC's back page for years) and that the mag goes on general sale tomorrow - I think the horse has well and truly bolted already on that one...

    EDIT:

Actually scratch that, they've still got themselves labelled as the winner - so nothing I do in here re: editing my posts is going to make a damn difference anyway.

John T - I can understand your frustration at finding 7 pages of paid for content for free on Scan's website, to be honest it made me extremely angry when I found it too. However, they have now taken the PDFs down (after 2 very heated phone calls this morning).

sorry taken me some time to get around to signing up and posting a reply to this and other queries.

    1. LD Phase unit - Yes it is based on the LittleDevil SS Phase, we build our own units which are a similar design and use LD's, either are excellent and produce similar results. Ours are integrated with PC power button, LD's are not. There is a quieter version in the works using a different approach to the front heat exchanger. For now this is the best on the market at the moment and the only one with the power to cool an i7 at full tilt.

    2. HyperThreading - Yes we supplied the Graphite with HT disabled to Custom PC and of course they have to run tests against what they get, our call on that one and it was a mistake. We expected it to be used for gaming only and HT generally doesnt help much so we turned it off. We have now published HT enabled results on our own site http://www.cryopc.co.uk/dream_pc.htm. All those that have emailed or sent us queries feel free to come take a look if its still of interest.

    3. The covering film! - If im honest it was a bit of a rush job. When it was clear there were durability issues with it we dropped it from the spec some time before the review was published.

    4. Can we do TEC as well - Most certainly we can in a very similar way to Scan and Kobalt, based on CoolIT predictive control technology. In fact we can go Phase + TEC if you wish. :naughty:

    5. HD5870 cards - well they are like hens teeth at the moment but if you want a rig built with these instead its not a problem. It can be built with any graphics cards.

By all means eMail me direct with any info requests or queries, glad to help...
