Is this what he and you mean?

    Corsair® 1024MB TwinX 3200XL X-Treme Low Latency
DDR400 Dual Channel Kit (TWINX1024-3200XL) £205.57 inc vat.

It seems to be 400MHz not 500MHz and is only a few pounds cheaper than the PC-4000 if i choose the low latency version. The one that doesn't state low latency is about £160. Help. :wallbash: Thanks in advance as always.

If you aren't going to be doing any serious overclocking, don't bother with anything but PC3200 RAM. Stick with the Corsair PC3200 low-latency stuff. This is what you want.

The above was made from microdirect and ebuyer. It's everything I would buy, anything I've missed that i'll need (excluding speakers)?

    Here's yet another question....

    Asus AX800 XT/TVD 256MB ATI Radeon X800XT 8x AGP
    +DVI +TV Out VIVO Retail

That's what it's called at microdirect, at Ebuyer it doesn't include the "8x AGP" bit and instead mentions pci express? What's going on, are there 2 different versions? A pci express and an 8x agp, or what? What's better if there are 2 versions? I might still get an Nvidia mind.

The ebuyer AX800XT is £426.92 and the microdirect is £374.83.

Again, are you sure you want to go X800XT and not 6800 Ultra? Even possibly 6800GT, and overclock it to 6800 Ultra speeds (possible in 99% of cases).

Don't go PCI express, you can only use that with Intel motherboards at the moment.

    remember, I'm a n00b here :worried:

Would it be REALLY easy to overclock the GT to ultra speed?

It's pretty common... but keep in mind that a 6800ultra sucks twice as much power as an x800XT (and as a result runs hotter, etc, etc)... and the 6800GT near that. I read someone who said that as soon as he turned on his cold cathodes (550w psu) with his 6800U it gave a warning about not enough power being available.

PCI express is for the new LGA775 intel motherboards...

That isn't true...the 6800U draws 72W, and X800XT 63W. If you have a good PSU, it won't be an issue. The GT only draws 56W too.

^^By the time you upgrade again, video cards will be mainly PCI Express. Right now, high end PCI Express video cards are very rare, and you'll be fine with AGP 8X. Right now there is no real performance gain from PCI Express. By the time you upgrade to a PCI Express video card there will be motherboards out that still support your processor and RAM, but will support PCI Express as well. So it'll be a matter of getting a new motherboard along with the video card. In any case, you'll probably get a lot of money for the old video card and motherboard anyways, so it shouldn't be too costly of an upgrade.

    Gigabyte GF 6800GT 256MB 8x AGP VIVO + DVI Retail £296.04

Anyone know if that can be overclocked, it says it has software with it that allows it to be, supposedly.

The x800 pro is exactly the same price from them by the way.

I found the card made by BFG and it's overclocked, plus it's the cheapest I've seen it....

BFG GeForce 6800 GT OC 256MB AGP = £259 from PC World.

Am I missing something or is this really amazing?

From PC World??? :worried: Probably not!! Check what core\mem speed the OC card is at and compare it to a stock card, if its only like a 20\30 increase but £30 more, don't buy it as its a waste of money :thumb:

The thing is, this is the cheapest I've seen the card at, yet it is also overclocked.

If I got that from PC World then this would be my system:

    Asus A8V-Deluxe/wifi-g bundle AMD Skt939 K8T800PR 8X AGP DDR400
    +SATA RAID +Firewire +Gigabit LAN +8ch.audio +USB2 (up to DDR400) £89.24

BFG GeForce 6800 GT OC 256MB AGP pc world £ 259.43
Logitech Cordless Desktop Opt. MX Keyboard & Mouse USB/PS2 £71.68
    Corsair® 1024MB TwinX XMS 3200XL X-Treme Low Latency Memory Kit £197.34
    200 GB Seagate Barracuda 8MB Cache 7200rpm ATA100 (ST3200822A) £75.49
    Asus 16x DVD-ROM Black IDE Retail £20.27
Creative Labs Soundblaster Audigy Ls £38.53
Enermax Noisetaker 420W silent PSU +act. PFC twin fan EG425AX-VE(G)SFMA £56.40
    Chenbro Gaming Bomb Black/Silver with Window +USB2 +F/wire +12cm fan NO PSU (c/w 3GHz cooling) £33.99

    19" Iiyama HM903DTB 0.25 Pro 454 High Bright(3yrs Onsite) (3yr warr- tel 01438 314416) £232.05

    £1400.41

possibly with a different monitor. Oh and by the way, sorry to keep posting here, but I'm desperate, I apologise for it being 4 pages and topping this section every 5 mins when I get stuck :duh:

Its alright mate, thats what we are here for :thumb: If you think its to good to be true, it usually is. Check that it is actually a GT and not just running at "GT Speeds", The way they word things can be very misleading sometimes :eyebrow:
