I voted for AMD cuz that's in my machine of evil, and they are my preference, but honestly, I gotta do it, you all know I do:

Here's my drain on the national grid:

Athlon XP2000 in the Main Rig (My PC)
Athlon XP1500 in the Secondary Rig (Mrs GOO's PC)
Pentium III 800 in the Laptop (we fight over that, so we can surf and watch TV.... ;))
Athlon 850 in the stillborn Server (Still need a frigging HDD!)
    Celereon 366 in the Smoothwall.

    My CPU family includes:

Athlon XP1700 running at XP2000 speeds in the main Rig.
Athlon T-bird 1.4 running in the spare room - mainly for Video conversions.
Pentium 3 550mhz in the fileserver box - slow but lovely and quiet.
And a Pentium 2, 366mhz in an old IBM laptop that is currently in many pieces

    3 AMD CPU's (1.4gig tbird, 1gig tbird and 0.8gig tbird... new one soon!), 2 Intel (P200MMX, P133).

I was about to jump ships but the 2400+ looks far too tasty to ignore...

Yes I do, I work at AMD Austin, in the validation department.
We test every bit of the processor.
I work on DDR memory. (Measuring timing, signal quality, etc..)
The current board I am working on is a Quad Sledgehammer.

Zap, I envy you to no end.

Quad Sledgehammer? I have wet dreams about that kind of thing (okay so I don't, but you get the idea)

Oh yeah.. Smilies... I forgot about you for a bit.... Hello again....

Aren't the MAC CPUs Intel based? Or am I wrong?

Hey zap, you guys ever look for 16yr olds for hard labour? I can work 20hrs/day 6days/week for $2/hr :D Oh, but I do require a small corner somewhere for my 4 hours of sleep :)

But seriously, you guys don't happen to have an intern program or somesuch do you?

    YES WE DO!
AMD does have a paid intern program.
I started here as an intern.
I worked two years as an intern, left and came back as a technician. Been here since May and have already been put on K8 Projects.

It's pretty hard to get in if you not taking college classes.
(I was taking college electronics classes while still in high school)
But I think they only want 18+

No, MAC CPUs are PPC chips. Both IBM and Motorola made/make them. They are RISC based, where Intel (mostly) has been CISC based. The Itanic is RISC based if I'm not mistaken.

Incidentally, IBMs new 64-bit Power4 chip looks like a screamer. With rumors that Apple might be using them, I'm anxious for them to come out next year. Supposedly the fpu benchmarks are second only to an Alpha.
