I currently have: Tbred 1700+ at 2.42 ghz and Palomino 1600+ at stock. ( wifey ) In the past I've had PI 200 X 2 K63-400 k62-300 PI 120 and of course Several apples, Atari's, TI's, and IBM clones. Just recently my brother helped my parents clean out their basement, I only saw the aftermath, but they had a 14 ton dumster half full of obliterated 386's and 486's, and about 2 dozen monitors. You still can't walk from their garage through their basement ( all connected, garage is underneath the house ). Was scalvaging and found a completely unused soct 370 dual processor MB. Then found out that buying 1ghz PIII's with socket 370 cost twice as much as the chip I have that's going at 2.4ghz. What a joke.
Running at the moment: Pentium 4 2.4c @ 3.0GHz (main rig) Pentium 4 2.4b (mum and dads) Pentium 2 2.0a (sisters) Pentium 3 700 (kinda family computer) Pentium 3 600 (Jukebox PC) Pentium 2 350 (internal file/game server) Pentium 1 166 (personal mail server) I love my Intels, and my main rig absolutely rocks for the price. Yes the Athlon FX would more than likely beat my rig up one side and down the other, but it also would cost 2x as much Other than the FX, I imagine that I'm prety high up there I would like to get another Pentium 4 2.4 ish and build a media PC to replace the jukebox PC, but I think I'll spend my moneys elsewhere (PocketPC kinda took care of that )
/in my home xp 2100+ xp 1700+ tbird 1333 pentium 233(gateway) p III 600 lapppy /daily use /gave away 2 parents duron 750 so AMD
I currently have running: an XP-2200 an XP-2500 (2.17mhz) an XP-2500 (2.21mhz) a Pentium III 701mhz a Pentium III 1ghz a Duron 800mhz Don't prefer either one over the other, but usually get AMD cause they're cheaper.
I voted Intel, since I have more Intel processors . I have an XP2800 @ 3200 speed on an AOpen AK77-8X Max and 2 x 2.2ghz Xeons on a Supermicro P4DC6+ board. I use the xeon as my main workstation, and the athlon as my gaming rig. Stan
Only ever had one AMD system - k6-2 450MHz After that mistake, I've only ever bought Intel Mainrig: P4 2.8GHz @ 3GHz Server-to-be: PIII 800MHz Girlfriends: P2 400MHz waiting for ickle HDD
Nice to see you've joined the fray simon, welcome to bit-tech mate I go for AMD mainly as their chips are better value. //Mainrig, Barton 2500+ @stock at the moment //Server, Duron 600 @601mhz //Gimp, Pentium 1 @75mhz Another golden oldie on the way is a donated p266. y amd, but will gladly have an old intel for free
All Intel for me: main rig: Intel P4 2.8 800FSB laptop: Intel P3 900Mhz office: Intel P3 1GHz box of spares: P3 550Mhz
Old thread alert Since posting it, i've had 4 more AMDs and another Intel, and i still think im an AMD fan despite my main rig being an Intel...
I dunno... Intel's P4s are slower than Athlon 64s, but P4s are faster than Athlon XPs. However, both Athlon versions are cheaper and or better perfoming than their Pentium counterparts. The answer is I like AMD
i am an AMD fan all the way i run a 1900+ (soon it will be a 2500+ or a 3200+) i also run a p4 2.4 and 2.6 gig but my fav was my old k6-2 i loved that chip
I saw an Article bout the FX 53 processor... omg its so.. AWESOME cant wait.. and what sucks though is AMDs limiting the 939 processors to only 10,000 world wide......
My Current PCs: AMD 1800+ @ 2.1ghz (mine) P4 2.4B @ stock (family pc/server) P2 333mhz (dad's, hardly ever used) Previous PCs: P1 120mhz (replaced by P2) P3 800mhz (was mine, got fried, replaced by 1800+) next PC will be an A64 for the family comp, and then i get the P2 to play with im gonna overclock the sh*t out of it ive had Pentium 1,2,3 and 4. but im going AMD now, so much better
And you get this information from...where? It would be incredibly stupid for AMD to limit production of their flagship product, I'd like to see more about this
ive heard the same stories about the FX-53, dunno whether it's true or not though. It depends on demand I would say.
There is one reason I can think of for doing the 10000 world wide thing... Marketing gimmick. They can sell em high, since there are so few at the start, and based on how popular various models are, they crank out those processors and sell them for maybe slightly less. I must say though, the information sounds a little shady...
Are you trying to start a flame, yeah ok u prefer amd, but dont slag off intel. I dislike amd in general, but i dont slag them that directly. Btw its spelt Athlon.
