Can anyone think of a name for our band? We were going to use GutterStar, but apparently the name is taken by another band, who apparently are quite popular in Yankeeland, as they have threatened to sue us. Not quite what for, breach of IP possibly? I digress. The band is re-forming, and we require a name. Just to give you an idea of our influences etc.

    Guns 'n Roses
    Therapy?
    Stone Temple Pilots
    Velvet Revolver

and any other bands that sound like that...

    Appreciate the help guys.

    "The Squatting Dogs"

I've never heard of this "gutterstar". I just looked at their website and they're only playing local shows in the NY/PA area, meaning they are either just starting or suck ass, probly the later. How did they find out about you guys anyway?

Pass. Our singer had a letter through the other week saying "Change your name or we'll sue!"

But yeah, its not as if there's a myspace for us yet! But hey ho, such is life...

Cheers Li, will have a word with my singist and see what he thinks to it all. We may end up with GuttërStar after this... after all if Motorhead can do it, why can't GuttërStar?

Will give you a PM Li.

Is there such a thing as a singist? I thought it was vocalist, or just singer.

Gütterstar - if they ask, you can always say it comes from the german "güt", meaning good.

Although, "Lawyer Hole" does have a certain ring to it...

the quote we got it from was an Orson Welles quote - "I may be in the gutter, but at least I can see the stars...."

    PS

"Good the star?" Is that an accurate approximation of the Germanic?

Not quite. 'Star' in German is Stern unless you're referring to a movie-star (celebrity).
And 'Gütter' isn't actually a word, although it's obviously a derivative of 'Güt' and under existing grammar laws
you could claim ignorance that it means "more good".
