Basically I would an epic 24" for 3d animation, and graphic/web design (important as thats my job) But would also like it to be 'epic' for gaming etc aswel, as this will also be my main gaming console i have a list of ones ive looked at... http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-24-inc...QKIK/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1316879335&sr=8-7 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-S24...JEV6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1316879335&sr=8-2 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-24-inc...8OYW/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1316879335&sr=8-3 http://www.amazon.co.uk/BenQ-G2420H...OJMC/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1316879335&sr=8-6 basically what ones the best? and if you have any others, feel free to recommend! thanks as always, Luke
If your job is graphic design, you should really be looking at IPS displays. Or PVA, but definitely not TN. The LG IPS231P-BN is the one that's getting mentioned a lot, and is less than £150, but if possible you should look at something like a Dell U2412M or HP ZR24w. A Dell U2410 would be even better. Yes they're much more expensive than you've been looking at, but if having accurate colours is important to your work then it's a justifiable expense.
If you're looking at our stuff you want nothing less than our PA series. P-IPS panels: http://www.asus.com/Display/LCD_Monitors/PA246Q/ http://www.asus.com/Display/LCD_Monitors/PA238Q/ There are other options like the Dell Us or HPs said above, as well as and super high-end like EIZO, but I'm not sure what the current preference is. I use the 238Q in work and it's good enough for photo and video editing. Going from TN to PIPS was like having my eyes augmented, I come home and cry at my SyncMaster 2494HS
hmmm, i was considering this monitor, theres 2 versions tho, i hear 5ms has better colour than 2ms? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-24-inc...1_3?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1316885527&sr=1-3 http://www.amazon.co.uk/VE248H-Wide...1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1316885527&sr=1-1 are the ips monitors really that different?
Vastly - IPS monitors tend to be used in a professional capacity because they can be calibrated, ie they will conform to a colour standard and images/designs will print exactly as they appear on the screen. The biggest difference between TN and IPS is the viewing angles: a large TN monitor will have colour shift, which means the colour across the screen is not uniform (because of the poor viewing angles), whereas with IPS there is no colour shift, even if you stand up and move to the side of or above/below the monitor. A really good monitor to consider in your budget would be the Dell U2312 IPS monitor. I've used 23" and 24" 16:9 monitors before and there is virtually no discernable difference in size, but the picture quality will be stunning.
I just got a dell u2311h (smaller brother to the ud2410) and it's so much better image quality than from a tn monitor. I can safely recommend the u2311h but I'm sure the ud2410 is better.
I have the Dell U2711 IPS and there no going back to a TN panel IPS are just soo much better the difference is amazing
Read this post which explains all the panel technologies: http://forums.bit-tech.net/showpost.php?p=2776290&postcount=13 For your needs, you need a true 8-bit panel IPS or PVA panel. If it's for professional work, you need to look at higher end (and a lot more expensive monitors) For non-professional work, I highly recommended the Dell U2410, or U2711 or U3011. For your work, you really need a 16:10 aspect ratio for room for menu bars and options to have a good work space. The U2711 is a 16:9 aspect ratio, but it's a higher screen resolution, so it kinda compensate. The Dell U2311H, the LG IPS23 series are 6-bit panels All these monitors are garbage, and don't fit your needs.
I just looked at his needs. If it is out of his budget... well what I can say.. I can't do miracles. it's not even a question of epic or not.
Goodbytes your thoughts on these would be epic! Ok I know they don't have AFRC control but for a price of £358? That's gotta be epic no?
