are you trying to say that going "OMFGZ LOLZ PHOTOZ" and then dumping a crap load of money on new bling bling gear whilst not really having an idea of what you're doing isn't a great idea?!
Loll to answer the Q i take plenty of picture, i'm out there as often as i can BUT i'm drewling over Ebay way too much for my budget
I must admit that I am guilty of "crashing" into this hobby at a very rapid rate. I've never used a SLR before, only a P&S. And now I've blown alot of money on my current gear. However, I am very motivated to get past 'Snapshots' and into Photography asap. And I'm guilty of not being "out there" enough aswell. But I blame the rain & cold weather for that. I do alot of experimenting in the house though, playing with light and learning the effect of all the options. And I've only had my kit for less then a week. L PS: Coorz, already registered and order the card. If you are getting that F2.8, would you sell your F4 to me then?
just want to make it clear i'm not trying to have a go at anyone or question anyone's motivations, photography is fantastic and i love it and i've been doing it a very short period... i just can't believe how much some of you spend straight off the mark
I understand ya. As Lovah said the weather here is really bad lately and i'm dying to get out to shoot some. And i'm only trying to get some decent gear (need walkaround lens) and i'm stumbling upon some great deals. Lovah, i'm second in line for that 2.8. If i get it i'll think of you, but i don't think i'll have a chance; a spotless 70-200 f/2.8 for 850 euro....
I'm still averaging about 1,000 pictures a week. Last year, while I wasn't so busy, I might shoot an average of 2,000 shots in a week.
Grabbed a Canon EF 50mm f1/4 last week and hope to have my walkaround lens this week, rounding off my lens collection (for now).
I know what you mean olv. I personally only tend to buy kit when I'm feeling limited by what I have. So far I have the 300D body + kit lens (second hand but still 100% fine). I now have a 50mm f/1.8 and I also bought a flash gun. However I'm sure most of us have jumped in at the deep end for something we enjoy such as a sport or similar. I usually charge head first into stuff too but as money has been pretty tight (no work) I really do limit what I get now and tend to sell stuff I no longer want for stuff I do want ( I sold some excess airsoft gear for camera bits ) so it's not too bad. I just wish I was more creative.
I'm almost too embarrassed to post here again. But I just joined the 70-200 F4 L club. I also got a Lowepro Computrekker AW to protect all my gear. But I'm finished now though! Exept maybe a flash & Soligor rings. But that's really it then, my budget for this hobby is finished. L Edit: Oopsl Just got a Manfrotto 190ProB and 486RC2 Ballhead today.
Lovah; What you think to the tripod and head? I got the slightly smaller version of that ballhead when I was out in America, the 484RC2, and very nice it is. I paired mine with a Gitzo G1155T, though. Wonderfully small and lightweight 'pod. Wanted something more portable as the Neotec and 322RC2 make quite a formidable combination.
I meant that I don't have any more money left for this hobby atm. I set a budget a few months ago and I'm not breaking it. Hwulex I think this combo is fantastic. It's not too expensive (170euro), not too big or heavy. It fits perfectly on my CompuTrekker AW. The legs of the tripod can be locked in three different positions. The centre column can be removed and mounted horizontally. The centre column locks easily (not geared). The ballhead is just great, but when you lock it, it tends to move very slightly. So you may need to unlock/lock again to get the framing you wanted. It's built very solid and feels just great. I'd recommend it to anybody that is looking for a versatile, portable basic tripod/ballhead. L
