Ah Atheism, the religion that doesn't believe in religion!

 

Depends. Although some people do indeed embrace it with religious fervour, at least it is a perspective that has some support in scientific evidence.

 

Atheism > Belief in the non-existence of god/gods

Nihilism > belief in nothing

Agnostic > Meh, don't really care if there is or isn't a god.

That's the way I see it anyway.

I'll just clarify that I have no problem with atheism - i just find it funny how worked up some atheists get over religion...

 

Any place that invites mockery of an idea without allowing defense of that idea breeds ignorance and hate. I'm not trying to point fingers; just making a statement.

I'm also not here to debate but I thought the flaming of religion had gotten a little over the top - though I suppose this whole thread has been a little over the top. -shrug-

Not if the idea itself is silly.

The way I see it religion has continuously and throughout several centuries held us back as a civilization, and has also been the triggering factor for countless of history's most appalling atrocities. And though I do accept and tolerate the fact that millions of people turn to religion, I have absolutely no respect for it - and neither can you expect me to. But, as Mvagusta said; no debate in the motivational thread...
