I have a 5850 and it will chug if I try to turn on the DX11 options like tesselation or high SSAO, I'm getting by at 1080P with 2x AA, and most of the options on, save for DX11 and tesselation or soft shadows. I would think I would need a newer gen card to really be able to run with the DX11 content

The problem is that different countrys restock on different days of the week. In America it is Tuesday. In the UK it is Friday. So even if a company wants to launch worldwide on the same day it's not really up to them. Digital is no different as I understand it.

It is annoying though. Americans not only get to play the game several days before us, but it also means those who pirate also play several days before those who pay (in Europe at least). Unless they pirate an American copy or leaked version, thus bypassing the wait.

I think it needs to be changed so games release the same date everywhere. No it won't stop leaks, but not every game gets leaked. Uff enough of that..it makes me rage...

Was anyone else reading that review thinking "This has got 7/10 written all over it, but I bet they give it 9/10 because they've got to support the game"?

I was, all the way through, and then lo and behold, they gave it 9/10.

The amount of people fawning over the review like it's made their life worthwhile seems ridiculous. This is why people repeatedly get taken for a ride by let-down big-budget games - because they set themselves up for it and the industry knows it's like taking candy from a baby.

I'm not saying the game does not deserve 9/10, by the way. Never played it. But that review and that score does not sync.

Just got my copy through the post from Amazon - isn't this a day early? Not that I'm complaining!

I'll load it up when I get a chance today (damn you work for getting in the way). Quite excited too, my copy came with the Tong's Rescue extra mission and all the other goodies. Hurrah!

Good luck wirh that. My copy arrived (augmented edition from Amazon) and when I try to install it from the disk I get a steam message to say I can't install it because it's not yet released. It does make you add your steam registration code before it gives this message. From there you cabn pre-load the game but it's an 8.5 gig download, why on earth it can't be pre-loaded from the disk is anyones guess :/

Well said, I'd also like to know the answers to this!! FOV is a game killer to me, if you can;t change it from 55 or whatever they use now for consoles, then it's a no go!

I remember back in the days of 2001 games had a default FOV of 90!! Bring back proper PC Gaming!!!

To be honest... my PC wouldn't do the game justice without a £300+ upgrade, so in the absence of that kind of money... I got it on the 360. Just tried it, and it works fine.

I'm hoping the game will be consolidified enough so that a joypad isn't too much of a hindrance to enjoying it, but we'll see.

Forget all this rubbish. :p The real question is, do I stump for the Deus Ex jacket that Adam Jensen wears in the game? I've been looking at a new coat recently! Hmmm...

    It does look good!

Sorry, but that's utter BS. There is absolutely nothing stopping them from doing simultaneous worldwide releases if they wanted to, as many others have done before, and it has nothing to do with 'restocking'. Retailers will have copies of the game in the store about a week before release, if not more, and there are no such restrictions with digital distribution sites like Steam. The system is a relic of the days before the Internet when no one really cared if we got games a couple of days later than the yanks, but now it just seems ludicrous when you have a game installed onto your hard drive but it won't unlock just because companies don't want to change their existing policy of releasing games on set days in different regions because (I assume) it makes the process of planning and organising releases easier and more predictable and allows for more accurate revenue predictions.

The only legitimate reason I can think of is that it would stagger the load on servers somewhat compared with a worldwide release, but even that is a pretty poor excuse or delaying the release of a game in certain regions.

That is the single stupidest thing I've ever heard. How can you comment if you've not even played it? Don't be such a bigget, Porkins. The game definitely is worthy of the score, which I can say after several hours of game time.. not some generalisation. Just because a critic comments on poor aspects as well as it's perks - makes a review out of sync how exactly? lol.

Is it better than the original? No, but it's one of the best and immersive action RPGs I've played in literally years and years

Don't mean to but into the conversation, but just a reminder that Deus Ex: Human Revolution is out today.

You should re-read this review, click some ads and stuff, and possibly go buy it.

    Kthxbye!

Swine! I've had the email to say that mine has been sent (yesterday) but no game when I got home from work. GRRRR!

Normally I'd have grabbed it through Steam, had it preloaded and good to go. This is just something of a landmark game for me so I have to own a physical copy. Shame I can't afford both :(

OK, that does it! Some tanks are going to be getting a serious "I should have been playing Deus Ex dagnabbit! Die!!" kicking tonight :miffed:

I've put a couple of hours into it so far and I haven't met a single character who I don't want to die. All of them irritate me, including Jensen himself and his "girlfriend". And I feel like I'm playing Metal Gear Solid, which while not a bad thing, isn't the sort of vibe I wanted/expected from Deus Ex.

it defaults to 75 but you can change it in options.. everything up, including tessellation in dx11, ssao high, and 12x aa enhanced in the ati ccc on a single 6970 (1080p)

the graphics are a lot like halflife.. they won't blow you away but it's clean

I bet can't wait to play some more.. promised to go see a movie later though- have to wait till saturday

Having played up as far as the first boss I can't shake the feeling that this is the game that Alpha Protocol really wanted to be.
