    That all sounds so wrong.

You should install the DVD drive after the Mobo.

    Did you use thermal paste?

What temps are you getting in the BIOS?

What kit did you actually buy in the end?

Slow down, take a screenshot of HWmonitor, then post it up somewhere so we can see exactly what you mean.

That temperature is far too high for idle temps, especially on AMD.

What cooler are you using? How tightly did you screw the heatsink down? I assume that you did remove the plastic cover from the thermal paste?

Now open it, right click and select copy image URL.

Then come back to post in this thread, click on the Insert Image button (looks like two mountains against a yellow sky) and paste the image URL.

    Then click Post Quick Reply.

Ok there is something very wrong with your temperatures. What cooler are you using? Are the CPU cooler fans spinning up when the PC is on?

Ok, did you remove the plastic covering the thermal paste before you installed the cooler?

Ok try realtemp to see if that gives you the same readings. If the fans are spinning up madly it means one of two things. Dodgy MOBO temperature sensors or a badly seating heatsink.

Most stock heatsink fans do spin up violently during startup and then settle down.. If the heatsink you used had thermal paste preapplied.. I would wait for a while for it to cure and settle in before panicking... Would be worth adding a few more turns to the 4 screws holding the sink.
