    from the outside world?

They fit perfectly to your ear canals. I can phone Tim, shout at him, stand there and wave my arms but he doesnt notice. Use the ear lube provided too and it becomes almost a vacuum fit - we're all paranoid we're going to get run over in london

The Sennheisers (CX300) we did in the round up are pretty good and they're about £30.

I can't find it now but I was under the impression that the background reduction of these was 20dB and was nearer 30 for the standard Christmas trees

Hmm, can't find what the figure is for the customs but they're much better than the standard ones (and they are good) - as Bindi says, the custom ones are terrifyingly effective. I wouldn't wear mine outside, for instance - I'd get run over in 5 minutes!

Only if you've got round lug holes. Apparently mine are more elongated.

    Thanks for teh review,

I am looking at the hF2's as a replacement for the ubiquitous white headphones Apple provides and especially in the area of Noise Reduction.

    Thought process was:

    a) Great even better noise reduction with custom made tips!
    b) Erm yes if I have custom made tips then they are bound to block out all noise. Your ear canal is totally blocked off
    c) £180 doh!

Now looking back, no offence, but is this an "informercial" guys?

    Peace

Read it how you will but we've all been thoroughly impressed with them. It's an expensive investment like any custom made purchase - take a tailored suit for example. I hate in-ears - but these are the only ones Ive ever used that have fitted and been comfortable for any length of time. Not every review has to be negative :p

I'm still keen on the idea of making my own tbh...

    How hard can it be?
I know they may end up looking a bit rough around the edges but you could make them to fit any earphones.
    My Shure E2Cs for example.

Anyone know where to get this skin-safe silicone stuff?
Or should it be made with something else?

Just as I was typing this I had an idea.
I saw this a while ago.
Surely the contents could be 're-purposed' to make earphone tips?
If its safe enough to put on your wee man... :D

I can see the ad campaign now...

"For the ultimate in noise isolation, ram a cock into your ear! (No chickens were harmed in the making of this commercial)." :D
