News First Fermi cards to be named GTX 480, GTX 470

Thanks Samuelmorris. I assumed the new Nvidia cards would be ATi beaters (by a mile) due to the length of time it is taking them to produce them.

Do you think ATi have put all of their cards on the table with their 5*** range of cards, or do you think they are holding the best parts back for Nvidia's release?

 

These cards are going to have 32xAA !! , rather than the previous x16.

And 16 individual tessellation engines.

Plus NVIDIA 3D Vision Surround, Which is 3 panels in stereoscopic 3d.

Image quality will be awesome at high res.

Anything above 4xAA doesnt justify the performance loss.

 

NO, nvidia are just gayboys who like to keep the flame going on without any real results to justify their big mouth announcement

Always liked the name of that card. The X1950XTX too. They just sound cool in french but i get why you guys don't like them since they're much harder to pronounce in english

 

No they sounded awesome, they were just harder to get than Ferrari Enzos.

 

I can't say I care what its called, I just want them to hurry up and release it.

Any guesses on a release date? Late March? April?

 

300 has much better connotations for me....written in bloddy letters down the side of the card...it could be anything from search result placings to ridiculous versioning...who knows...Id buy it if it was called the XPIXYDUST though tbh if it does what it says on the box

 

Some people laugh at the names, some people judge performance only. I just want to know what's taking them so long. It's getting to the point where you have to wonder how these cards are meant to compare to the Radeon 5k series. Being so late to the game with 400 it makes me wonder if ATI is using this lead to develop 6000 to get a further advantage (or to catch up if Fermi is awesome!).
