Well, there is the open beta in september, so at least we all get to trial it then and can at least get a good perspective on how well it runs on our machines and still leave us with enough time to upgrade anything.

I've just realised that actually, with BF3 not being on Steam, that means I can install it to my SSD.

    Every cloud.... and all that.

    Couldn't you do that anyways?

Just copy the folder to the SSD and then Symlink it back? :S.

Only as much effort as it takes to manually install the game from disc anyways ;).

Not sure how the other Online Platforms (D2D, Origin etc.) handle downloading and installing however... do you get to choose the install directory with them ?

EADM allows you to choose an install destination folder. then after downloading a game, it automatically installs the game to that destination.

pretty sure Origin is just a rename.

There is also Steammover that will effortlessly move stuff to and from other drives.

    WRT to BF3, can't wait :D

Or for those of us with our Steam folders on our SSDs it means making room for BF3. :(

    Does indeed.

Will I have to make a new profile or will it carry over from BFBC2?

A guy in my clan bought MOH just to play the beta of BF3. And he said he'd be willing to loan out the login info so anyone who's interested could at least play a little bit of the beta

    Not worth it imo.

A beta is supposed to be something which prospective players play to test the game and provide feedback. How, then, does it make sense to provide Medal of Honor players with the ability to input feedback at the earliest and most critical stage of the Battlefield beta? It simply doesn't, it's obviously a marketing ploy to sell MoH at the cost of BF. EA already has a system in place for checking whether players have played previous Battlefield games, why not base the early beta off of previous Battlefield ownership? There may still be some non-fans who go and buy the games for cheap to get in, but it's far less prevalent. At the very least run an opt-in, whoring out your game to boost sales is low, particularly for a game like Battlefield with a dedicated following and respectable history.

The second complaint, can an open beta really be called a beta? Don't kid yourself EA, it's a demo. Any real changes will have already been made during the closed beta and with a timeframe so close to launch anything but an essential change will have to wait until patch. Wish they'd stop kidding themselves and just put out a real demo so real beta testers can do some good. 2142 had one that worked well, it's not something new to EA/DICE.
