Damn... that's easily the missing 600 Euros' worth I did NOT get!

Btw, to get the minimum spec Mac Pro, the XDR monitor + stand you'll just have to fork over (quite literally) 12k. Thanks, Apple.

Release announcements like that make me want to look at Mac fanboy forums.

How does one justify a single purpose thousand dollar stand? I'm sure they will have found a way.

To keep it vaguely on topic, gum! I love that Big Red is available here fairly readily. I missed that going from the US to the UK.

I wonder what impact machining the stand as a single piece, vs a separate base and upstand, had on the manufacturing cost? I can imagine a meeting where Ive poo-poos a design of the latter that would have resulted in a $400 street price on the basis of him living entirely inside a bubble/his own anus.

Say what you want about Apple though, I still think the new kit looks grate.

The design itself looks fairly basic, and I assume they won't be having it made in one-off quantities, so I'd assume the manufacturing costs can't be that different.. If it was pretty enough to stand on its own, and not need a monitor attached to it to look anything other than like a monitor stand without a monitor, then I could possibly understand the manufacturing costs being higher.

All that said, Apple devices are usually prettier than the competition - Although, for my money, not nearly pretty enough to warrant purchase.

I bought the new Rammstein album and the Django/Zorro comic (sequel to Django Unchained).

I also received my copy of the limited to 150 globally and signed, slipcased edition of Thomas Harris' new book "Cari Mora". It's a piece of art. <3

You can't polish a turd. You can roll it in glitter tho, so I'd hope Apple at least included a bag of glitter free of charge...

With my limited understanding of how one makes jam, I am very confused as to how one makes jam out of cake..
