    No, wait, I can explain...

I'm having more trouble than I'd like to admit, trying to figure out the power pin-out for a proprietary dell server backplane.

In short, it's taking far too long and I needed something. I was looking at cheap-ish 4 bays, then I spotted this - I got it for a lot less than asking, because it had no drive trays - already got that covered. It's old, only has 2 x 1GbE ports and no m.2 slots, but it does have a PCIE expansion slot and I already own a QNAP QM2 10GbE/Dual m.2 card.

[edit] It's working well. I even bypassed the DOM and stuck TrueNAS on it, so I could quickly import my existing storage pool and access everything in the short term. Weighing up sticking with QTS as I'd probably have to unplug the LCD, because TrueNAS has no direct control over it - it stays permanently lit and offers no utility outside of QTS. It's a small matter though and not a deal breaker.

I also need to do a Noctua swap on the PSU fan, coz it be a whiny lil biatch.

A few months ago, I got rid of all but one of my guitars - I never get time to use 'em, so might as well make room. Everything went, except a cheapo and well-battered classical just to keep my hand in - amp, accessories, stands, bags, two electrics, an electroacoustic, and an acoustic.

A very short while later my eldest decides to take up guitar. Yeah.

    So...

    upload_2024-5-15_15-29-42.png

A Jackson JS11 Dinky, plus a bag so they can take it to and from lessons, plus a bundle with practice amp, strap, stand, tuner... y'know, all the stuff I used to have. And all for the low, low price of pretty much every penny I made when I threw my old stuff at a local second-hand music shop.

    D'oh!

I need a pressure washer, so ended up choosing a Nilfisk 140 which seems to get good write-ups. With a patio cleaner attachment, hopefully some slabs in the garden won't know what's about to hit them. #notsponsored :D

AliExpress emailed me to say the sale was bogus, with a fake tracking number and gave me a full refund. Not surprised at all.

What does surprise me is that the tracking number is still active and whatever has been sent cleared customs a few days ago and has arrived at my local distribution centre. Fairly interested to see what they've sent.

I'm thinking hair grips or some Hello Kitty PJs.

    Place your bets.

Damn you @David now I want to know what it is you're getting.

Any chance you're getting what you ordered and are getting your money back?

This would be v nice. Kinda doubt it though. If it is the correct model, it'd be a cert that it was FUBARed, so they could argue the toss on returns.

I'm guessing AliExpress killed this off because loads of folk have been scammed on this one, but most of them were a lot closer to source than I am, so there's likely already been reams of complaints.

Also got a ceiling rose rated to 6amps so I don't cook the nice one, aset of cable rods and a 10m RG6 Coax cable as the TV position is being moved.
So annoying when you get contractors cancel like that.

Building myself a large alcove shelf to put the PC, speakers and perhaps the printer on, as well as a few decorative knick-knacks (will post before and after pics when done). With that being the task, I have bought something I feel I could have used a few times in the past too.
