Thanks for the invite Stiketh! I appreciate that!

I don't know how much time I can manage, but I thought about maybe building roads between downtown and out into the fields, to other projects and so on.. Was first thinking of maybe 5 or 7 block wide, then later we could lay out some tracks with boosters here and there like public transportation of some sort. What do you others think? Any place I should be building towards first?

Personally, for me and my 4 year old son, a Transport Tycoon/Minecraft fusion would be the match made in heaven, but I gues we'll have to settle for carts.. ..oh well..

We're looking at using minecart mania plugin (if it works) whereby boosters and brakes are decided upon the type of block the track is laid over. Hopefully an update this week will solve most of out boat, minecart and block respawn issues :)

Hoping on now to play some spleef!

Been using Minecart mania on my test server, works pretty well but I don't think it can be install as a hMod you have to actually replace the main jar file from memory...

Gold block to make you go fast and gravel to slow the cart again as well as chests to dispense the carts :thumb:

EDIT: After another quick look seems if your running MCAdmin it can be installed just like hMod just drop it in the mods folder

does that mean we won't be able to connect while we wait for mods to be updated?

Does this also mean that IF it were night time, we would have zombies, or are they turned off?

probably not since AFAIK you can only carto one layer at a time.

another evening on MC and another grief to the clock tower:

same side as usual. ive replaced the torches, and whilst walking around the other side of the tower checking the other three sides, i ran into journeyers new building which just "appeared" out of nowhere (that wasnt there last night i swear!). looks amazing journeyer!

    Thank you Wicked.

And to whoever keeps griefing the clock tower; this needs to cease, otherwise we will find you, and then we will feed your nutsack to rabid badgers!

By the way TCoZ, you're doing all these exceptional surfaces, so when are you going to be making a Whitney umbrella? :D

I'm thinking our main rail station could be based off of something like that...

I did think of making a Whitney Umbrella, but I'd like to finish the Roman Surface off first and get the clock tower done. And then I'll think about it :p

    Awesome. :D
In my mind it would be spectacular to use one as the roof for our central rail station. Those buildings always seem to have somewhat organic and flowing roof structures - at least the modern ones.

And then there's the Calabi-Yau manifold...
    I will say no more...

Edit: Also. The torus and the roman surface are both spectacular, but at their construction site there is really no proper vantage point for observing them. We (or you) should construct observation platforms for tourists. however, this is just my two cents, so do not take my suggestion combined with the power of red name in MC to be a direct order... (unless you want me to order you around of course) ;)

Where are you building central station? And are you measuring 300 blocks apart for cart jumps?

I'm just wondering because if you want to build a Whitney Umbrella, we'll need to make some space near DooooownTooooownn as the tunnels are already there and it makes sense to put it near spawn and the most current major area. There's space to the right of GuildHall (looking out from the entrance towards DT)/East of DT.

Wicked_Sludge I don't think it's a grief, I think it's a bug. Who would bother just knocking off JUST torches considering what else is around??

Construction has not started yet, and I'm currently busy with my casino.
So I am just airing ideas for it, and for downtown station I have two; either a spectacular above ground construction, or a discrete subway system under downtown. If we were to use a Whitney umbrella for the, for instance, roof of our central station, it would by neccessity be quite large, and as such it is possible it will not be suitable for downtown. Our rail network will need to be properly planned out I think.

Edit: Oh bloody hell! Today the SMP health and damage update is coming... I hope MPUK will be able to rapidly update the server, and I hope that Stickeh can disable it quickly as well. Our construction sites are not really properly prepared nor defensible against creeper attacks...

it seems too random to be a bug to me. usually MC bugs leave large square chunks missing from structures...not random torches from the side of one.

but i could be wrong [IMG]

Pff just make it like London Underground and bodge it in with a crowbar!

We never have night so it's not too much of an issue, although SMP health is gonna suck. We're a construction server, not role playing.

That's how London underground was built? Huh, explains a lot really... also explains a lot from Neil Gaiman's book "Neverwhere".

This is true, and I didn't consider it. However, it will make subterranean exploration ... interesting. And falling from the top of high-rise structures is going to suck donkey ****!

The problem is London is that it's very centre was mostly already built around Victorian (1800-1900) times, then expanded on. The current city is built on about 10 layers of old cities underneath, and the complexity of all that **** below is a nightmare to research as it's not all documented. Plus, London was built on marshland, not rock: that's why it can't have big buildings unless they are extremely deep. At least Minecraft is rock! :p

This is exactly how we are currently building GuildHall :( Build 48 blocks up, fall off, rinse and repeat.
