1920x1200 is small enough on a 17", let alone 15"er :D That would be mental!

Yeah though I've seen it done before, custom ones.

I like things small but honestly having got that number of pixels on my 24in display the same data on a 17in would be nuts.

I'm looking forward to seeing the new led displays and see how they compare to mine as that's the one thing that would make me consider upgrading.

    Niiice.

anyone seen any reviews online yet?
Does it use the cacheboost thing or is that a Vista-only tech?

    How about bootcamp?
Does it work on these yet?
And if not, will it? :)

Seeing as they were released less than an hour ago , what do you think about reviews?

Ready boost that well know pointless thing in vista that does nothing apart from on machines with very little ram, in which case you may as well buy more ram not a flash drive. :D

Bootcamp will almost certainly work on them. It will require a drivers update though. I would expect it in the next week or two.

Geforce 8600, ALRIGHT now I can finally play SimCity 4 and StarCraft 1 on my MacBook.
Seriously, either Apple put that video card just because it's "hip" or cool, or they call people to switch to Vista and enjoy the full potential of the video card with DX9 and DX10 games.

If it was for 3D rendering and stuff, a Quatro would make MUCH more sense.

As far as I'm aware the NVIDIA Quadro is not available in a mobile chip so apple couldn't put one in even if they wanted. :)

They are several laptops that has a Quatro chip.

After a very quick look on HP site I fell on to this:
    http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en/sm/WF06a/321957-321957-64295-321838-3329741-3355679.html
It has a: "NVIDIA Quadro FX 1600M graphics, with 512 MB dedicated video memory" (HP website)

Here is Nvidia website with all Quatro Mobile chipsets (FX and NVS):
    http://www.nvidia.com/page/quadrofx_go.html
    and
    http://www.nvidia.com/object/quadro_nvs_notebook.html

I do a lot of coding - I need the size, not the resolution. I have pretty good eyes, and that's way too damn small for me. I think the 1440x900 of the 15" is just about right. That same res on my 24" would be nice, but I'm usually sitting farther away from it so the text size is close to the same. If nothing else, I just want my screens to all have the same PPI rating so they don't have bizarre borders when using multiple displays (or some sort of scaling thing like what Synergy has... might come with Leopard's resolution independence which would be awesome).

But yeah, for photo editing, the more the better. If I could fit my 10MP shots 1:1 on my 15" (or even my 24"), it would be fantastic. But that resolution makes text WAY too small for coding.

    I stand corrected :)

Its only on the 17 you can get that screen res.

My dell m70 is 1920x1200 on a 15.4" it's also running a quadro fx1400 (6800 based) graphics chip so you can definitely get both in a laptop.

I couldn't use any other res.
