So after 3 cancelled EVGA cards, a cancelled ASUS card and missing out multiple times on baskets on nvidias website and scans i finally have a 3080ti FE all thanks to a mate, who scalps.. ironic but worth it. Happy man once more!

Isn't it reassuring to know that when you get something wrong on the internet there are always several people willing to tell you just how wrong you are? <3 :)

Well it's reassuring to know that at least one person in the world thinks of me as 'precious'.

Nah, nothing malicious about it. Just part of where I work so a bit of insight that's all. If we are talking fast food then your probably right. America loves a fast food joint. I'd kiss back but social distancing and masks until the 19th so I'm behaving

Back to talking about hardware gents, or I buy everyone on this thread a 3090.

    Don't make me bankrupt myself.

I don't see that threat as having the desired effect.

...anyway, @Byron C , on the subject of smarminess and preciousness vs the keyboard warrior's innate desire to one up somebody/anybody, do you suppose there might be a direct correlation between the smarm index and the pedantry coefficient?

    :naughty:

Haha so anyway, I was out for a walk earlier and was thinking to myself about this very issue. It's fair to say that tone is very difficult to judge online, no?

I suppose there could be, although I'd need a sufficiently large categorised data set in order to make a proper determination...

This is why I tend to make heavy use of emoji (or smileys, as we used to call 'em).

Kinda... kinda not...? Machine learning & AI would, after all, be a very good reason to buy a 3090 :thumb:

Are we all forgetting the 3 rules of bit-tech?

    2. No thread is allowed to stay on topic
    3. Never mention decades old hardware or you'll summon Gareth

You don't even need to mention old hardware anymore. Since he got a proper job elsewhere he's here all the time !

Anyone know if the 3080 is even in production anymore? Seems like the ti versions of everything have completely replaced them.

Been looking for a normal 3080 since launch, still no luck. I don't mint paying a bit over the odds but not 2 times the price.

Yeh they are, allegedly, but they're also switching over to the LHR models and there's also still huge demand for them.
